I paid over $900 for a complete mess.
I've been to harvest cafe and hello tucker numerous times and always grab their donuts as they have a beautiful presentation and have tasted amazing.
We decided to order their donuts instead of getting a wedding cake.
At $4 a donut we knew this was a splurge but decided it was worth our previous experience.
When I placed the order and paid for half I was told the donuts could be picked up at 10 am the day of my wedding and I needed to pay the other half 48 hours before pick up. I paid 5 days before my wedding confirming once again they'd be prepared.
The day of my wedding at 11am my father inlaw went to pick up our order. No one knew what he was talking about. The order was "lost" they assured him they could have the donuts made and they would even deliver them to my venue 30 minutes away themselves by 5pm.
My father inlaw did not want to stress me out before my wedding so he called and told me they were behind.
What was delivered was an absolute mess. They claim they were delivered in excellent condition and are trying to pass blame on my venue for not storing them properly once delivered.
My venue has notes about the entire interaction.
I've reached out to multiple bakers and have posted my experience in local wedding vendor groups and they all agree the donuts were rushed and iced too hot. Not to mention the beyonce donut I have had in the past and in all their photos are not covered in sprinkles.
I've spoken with the owner who is taking no accountability for the lost order, who is passing blame on my venue for not storing them properly.
I've been offered 150 credit to their store, when my tip alone was 126.
If you are considering a large order for a special event, I...
Read moreOK, I have given this place enough chances But no more. I guess if you haven't been to many great cafe's then this would look amazing but I have been to many and actually know how to bake and make a good coffee and this place is BAD! I like a simple treat with a coffee but the pastries are too sweet like the bad cooking done in the 60's. There is no delicacy to the pastries just heavy with layers of gritty icing sugar or candy stuck on top of overly sweet brown coloured squares. But the kicker is they are twice the price of a really well made pastry found in amazing coffee shops. The coffee, when finally served after 5 employees had a nice chat around the coffee machine, had no look that skill was used to make it. It was scalding hot. Use a thermometer if your not skilled and do not know how to judge the heat of milk when making coffee. Or maybe concentrate on actually producing a great coffee instead of chatting. Finally coffee was ready but I had to wait so long I had already eaten the horrible pastry (after pealing a layer of icing sugar off it) . My friend had peeled back the thick paving of icing sugar on his "pastry" saying, "why did I buy this, why did we come here this is so bad". Desperation for a coffee I guess. This is a terrible cafe, with staff that think they are producing great products. I have been to many caffe's and maybe someone there should get out and compare their food to other cafe's like , maybe Trafiq in Vancouver or "The Penny" if in a smaller town like Mission. If The Penny in small town Mission can get if right then someone in Chilliwack should...
Read moreMy bestie and I randomly strolled in here today after a stressful day.
The lovely gal behind the counter asked how I was and I was honest and said I wasn't doing well. She surprisingly offered to listen to me share a vent with her. So, I took her up on that offer. She was gracious in listening to me. The gentleman working with her overheard some of what I'd shared and chimed in some kind words as well. As an extrovert, it was a pleasant surprise! We also engaged in conversation about the treats in their showcase.
I got a slice of the banana walnut cake and a date square and my bestie got a jalapeno scone. Unfortunately, the quality of the desserts was severely lacking compared to the lovely personalities of the staff members. The banana cake was shockingly sweet and I also bit into a pit from one of the dates on my first bite into the date square. :( I was concerned I had chipped one of my molars. Needless to say, the treats didn't get finished. My bestie wasn't able to enjoy them either due to how sugary they were. He did enjoy the scone, though.
The interior of the cafe was lovely. It was clean and the artwork for sale on the walls was a thoughtful addition, adding a cozy vibe to the place. I also loved the raccoon artwork on the back of the chairs.
Due to how kind the staff were, I am likely to poke my head in to say hello but I won't be partaking in their food again.
3 out of 5 stars but would have gladly given 5 if not for the sweets not...
