I like to review and edit reviews every now and again. Revisiting this one, seems like yesterday. Still fresh in my mind. I hope to visit again and change those memories.

5 stars if i graded restaurants solely on their cutlery. Each set at our table were perfectly balanced and weighted, and not a bent tine between them. The spoon was a thing of beauty, perfect in everyway, the best qualities from every spoon. I have had poor cutlery ruin meals, this time i had the meal ruin the cutlery. I really wanted to like this place and look beyond it's short comings. Half my plate was cold, some interesting choices like the green onions in the home fries, but then serving them cold. Eggs were great! And the meat selections were nice, but both were closer to room temperture than not. When describing canadian maple syrup on the menu, expect Olde Style Lynch foods corn syrup. The hollandaise was bland and more bland, bordering on tasteless. While i appreciate in a restaurant here it has to be powdered or store bought, please look at alternatives. There was some weird infighting between the staff. Throw in the cost of the meal which i could have overlooked if it was better, and this was the worst breakfast out I've had in years. Today I ordered dinner for pick up as I've done several times over the years. I placed the order and when I arrived I saw the server packing the food in a bag. I specifically asked her if they remembered the gravy on the side? When I ordered I asked for gravy on the potatoes on one meal and on the side for the second meal. I was assured it was. I paid and drove home. Once home we discovered NO gravy on the side and NO gravy on potatoes. This is a recurring issue. I was so upset I called and server answered saying the cook must have forgotten. She packed it! I told her I was coming back. I've let it go many times in the past. When I arrived the server greeted me saying it was her fault for not checking. I reminded her I asked her specifically. I also said it wasn't the first time this has happened but it was definitely the last. We won't ever go back. Now to add insult to injury, the gave me 2 containers of chicken gravy instead of beef. Okay, this is my personal favourite breakfast restaurant ! I can't say I've had anything other then breakfast at the Bowmanville Family Restaurant. Their taters are so crispy, perfect bite size and always with the green onion on top. Oooooh yummy ! 😋 I always go for the biggest breakfast, mind you, I eat for 2 sometimes which can get a little pricey. My opinion could be some one else's disagreement. Over easy eggs, 3 of them, bacon & sausage please, home fries and rye bread. With marmalade. I've been coming to this restaurant since I was kid ! And I've only ever ate their breakfast and I will keep on coming back for more ! Soon enough, maybe in another decade, I'll try some other meals from the Bowmanville Family Restaurant but for now and probably always their breakfast will be my #1 breakfast, lunch and I'll have...
