New review from August 20, 2023 - now ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It appears that the restaurant has made a lot of small but very significant changes: 1. The waitresses were very friendly! 2. They upgraded their ordering system to fully digital that even the waitresses took order using electronic pad. 3. The Greek Salad sets a new standard for the salad around. They use real goat cheese that taste like it was just taken out of its brine. 4. The Liver and Onions is one of the best that I have had. Very tender and flavourful. Thanks for making such great improvement to the old diner that has a lot of sentimental memories to a lot of customers. Old review from 2017 - I gave 1 star ⭐: I am very disappointed during my last visit on Easter Sunday: 1. The waiteress wrote down the wrong order - she was sorry about it, which I was ok with and accepted the incorrect order. 2. Another waiteress could be heard talking fairly loud as she walks around on how much she is looking forward to finish the shift - yes we all do it, but does this means I am receiving a sub par service? 3. When I as the waiteress #2 about the incorrect order, instead of trying to help, she said right away, it was not her table and she walked away to get waitress #1 4. No interact? But bank machine? 5. Souvlaki Chicken is supposed to be real Chicken marinated in spices and grilled on a skewer. Their version is frozen chicken sprinkles with spices and grilled. We should have gone to Snug in New Castle.

Today at lunch I was excited about trying the Greek souvlaki dinner at the Olympia Restaurant after having been ill and not having eaten for some time. I asked the waitress what she thought of my choice to which she replied “I’m Greek and I like it”. She was extremely polite and helpful. Unfortunately that’s where the good experience ends. My intent was to enjoy this meal over the next few days. I got the food home to find dry basmati rice with absolutely nothing in it, very dry hash browns made in-house and chicken that did not taste grilled with a weird texture. Also the tatziki sauce had long strands of what I guess is cucumber(?). All in all, worst souvlaki I’ve had and I’m not a picky eater. I’m out $22 with tip and will not be going back. Now that meal is in the garbage. What a waste. I will get my souvlaki from the Oshawa Centre or the Greek Tycoon in Whitby from now on. I wish I could report a better quality/taste of food but, in this instance, I cannot. To be fair, I have had a club sandwich there once and it was perfectly fine.

Hadn’t been since Covid hit and this was my weekly favorite lunch place for over ten years working in Bowmanville so it was a lovely treat with the whole family. Eggs Benedict with peameal bacon and home fries on the grill with onion - DELICIOUS, as always. Great coffee. Fast service. You know a restaurant is good when the waitress has been there for years and she is still smiling.

We've eaten here twice now, that we've recently moved to this nice town. First time, I wasn't happy that they're not offering anything more than couple slices of tomatoes, if I have a breakfast with no potatoes or bread (big cost if order them separate), cause I am on a very low carb diet.. most restaurants do this, actually, and I hate it. Unfair to a customer paying with their hard earned money. food was generally o.k. the first time, but nothing special, there was something, maybe potatoes cold on my GF's plate, can't recall, but not stellar... Today I had craving for pancakes, as I'm having a cheating period from my diet.. so we go here again.. Pancakes have some kind of sour taste to them, like an orange peel extract or something (not terrible), but I didn't like it and couldn't finish them. Only ate a bit of them (my gf didn't love it either, but she ate her one out of the 3 we got in the order, cause she doesn't like to complain much).. I had them taken away and ate mostly the eggs, toast ham, etc.. which all was generally o.k... toast had a nice taste to it.. nice salty butter, i assume..mmm. good there... all else o.k... I wasn't offered any discount for not liking or finishing the pancakes. Now, in imho, that's not cool. They should offer a couple bucks discount when a customer doesn't eat much of his meal or sends it back. its the customer relations thing to do. I had craving for pancakes today and it was ruined.. they claim I am the first person to every mention this odd pancak thing.. I guess I am a picky @$$ ? don't know.. my gf doesn't like much either.. and oddly The Bowmanville Restaurant down the street is the first place I tasted this tangy mix flavour in the pancakes.. wonder if they're owned by the same family, so same recipe ?? but never tasted this in any other place in N.A. in my life.. not horrible, but not a pancake taste !! Amount of food for the price is good, on a side note. At the Keg, the manager gave me my whole meal free, when my steak came rare and I had to send it back to be cooked more to med.... and then it came and was now only med./rare.. so i sent it back again to be cooked a bit more to reach Med.... and manager said sorry, for the delay and problem and gave me a free meal, even though it finally came right and I at it all... so why couldn't Olympia restaurant offer me $2-3 off, as a customer relations way to show me they care about my experience there? I was going to ask them, but another guy was there waiting to pay, so I didn't want to question the lack of that decision, and just payed.... If they prefer to not lose that $2-3 but they don't mind taking the risk of losing $1,000 from me coming back or not, I guess is totally their option and right !! Also, I shouldn't have to question or ask for the discount ! Good business people know better !! So, there's a great chance we'll not be going back, cause of this lack of respect for my hard earned $$ and my happiness at their establishment... No more breakfasts there, no lunch or dinners to be tried... I guess they're so rich they don't want the extra business from me ??!! If it was my business, I gladly would of discounted the meal and remind the customer, we have lots of great dishes here, and I hope to see you again, so we can share our other tasty dishes with you, or something nice like that, to bring me back. I don't know if our waitress is also the owner, some reason, I suspect she was. Older short lady, dirty blonde, in good shape for her age... looked Greek, with name like Olympia, I suspect it's Greek ownership and another reason I am disappointed in the lack of care. Maybe I am just the picky S.O.B. .....

What a horrible experience. I have been coming here since I was a kid, but the interactions I have had with the "owner" on my last two visits has left me shocked and appalled! I ordered take-out and the meals were wrong and cooked horribly, we couldn't even eat them. I called to complain and he wouldn't talk to me. Apparently his wife was cooking and the impression I got from the servers was that this is always a terrible situation. Took me two days and a lot of calling before he told a waitress (Lanie) to give me two meals for free on my next visit, even though I had ordered 4 meals originally. When we went in a week later and after my husband daughter and I had finished our meals I was told we were only permitted to order breakfast and that the waitress was wrong telling me I could have any meal we wanted. He berated me in front of the other customers and I had to battle to get the money two breakfast would have cost taken off my total check. When I said I wasn't coming back he said "good!" He does not care about his customers and told me to my face that he hopes I do not return. I hope this review has some effect on his business because he should not be an owner of a customer service based business. I will never return to...
