This is our new go to sushi place in Bowmanville! We have been driving to Whitby to get our sushi, and now we only have to drive 5 minutes down the street. I have been to a lot of sushi places and I can definitely say that this has been the best place for customer service and for freshness. They went above and beyond for my fiancé's birthday which happens to be on Valentines Day. They even decorated their boxes for Valentines day which was super cute in addition to the birthday décor. Most places would not accommodate a request asking for birthday décor for the sushi, but this place did and my fiancé and I were thrilled with how it turned out. Everyone is extremely friendly, the sushi is fresh and tasty, and they have a great selection of items. Their salmon torched sushi and crunch dynamite are my favourite. This will be our new weekly spot! I would highly recommend this place for sushi. You will not be disappointed:)

I ordered the small party Maki platter. I didnt use skip the dishes or other third party food ordering services. So the price I paid. I thought it was very fair. Came up to $36 rax in. This is a small takeout, only type of sushi place which I think it's not very common but i' I was happy that I ordered there a good sign. Was that the hostess/cashier was also eating sushi from that restaurant? The sushi/Maki rolls, we're well executed. The freshness was there, and the portion was very nice as well. Compared to some other sushi places around, I find this one had the best quality and price to value ratio. I definitely recommend. I'm placing an order from here. Yeah, the service was friendly. It was fast inconvenient. I have also posted a few pictures of what I ordered.

My daughter (who has expensive taste) wanted to celebrate her 7th bday with some sushi. We came here last year for the same festive occasion and I'm glad we came back. The sushi and rolls were as fresh as one could hope and just as delicious. I'd highly recommend it, it was our 2nd time coming here and we will be back again. We do live in the US or otherwise we would be back more often, but my in-laws enjoy going here too. Thanks for a great meal! Oh yea we ordered the party platter #2, spicy crab pizza, spicy tuna pizza, unagi and some edamame. It was a perfect amount for 4 adults and one 7yr old. Special shout out to the team for giving us another roll on the house for the special occasion. Thanks again!

I will start by saying that Sushiholic is probably the best sushi I have had since I have moved to Bowmanville in 2004. I have been recommending it to all of my family and friends since they first opened and even have family and friends from Ottawa insist on ordering from them when they come for a visit. I have always been a strong supporter of local businesses however my experience tonight has changed everything and I will no longer be ordering from this restaurant. Tonight I placed an order via Uber Eats that was over $100 that specifically stated in the note section that I have a severe anaphylactic allergy to avocado. However when I received the order there were 2 maki sets that had avocado which also meant that the other maki sets could have been potentially contaminated. For someone who has a severe allergy, it gives me piece of mind when I know that the restaurant I order from takes this my allergy seriously as it is a life threatening situation. However, when I called, the person on the phone kept arguing with me saying there is nothing they can do about it and after 10 mins of back and forth being told that it was my fault, they finally said that they would remake the maki sets that had the avocado with the avocado but we would have to pick it up. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up the order, I apologized for the inconvenience and I politely suggested that in the future, if they have notes in online orders that are unclear, that they should take the time to validate the information with the client prior to making the order. If someone had taken 5 mins to call me to check that the entire order needed to be avocado free versus one extra order of sticky rice this entire situation would have been averted...they would have saved money and I would have received what I ordered without having to inconvenience myself and drive to the restaurant at 7pm after having paid the Uber Eats driver a tip for delivering my order. After politely sharing my point of view, the lady at the cash kept on arguing with me saying that I was at fault and then I heard someone in the kitchen yell out "well you are getting free food so what else do you want?". Honestly this was so disappointing to hear and made me want to just throw the food in the garbage. Whatever happened to client service? I honestly never complain about anything and in this case I wasn't even complaining I was just recommending a best practice relating to allergies as I take my allergies very seriously. Needless to say I will not be recommending this restaurant again and will not be ordering again which is unfortunate because I was a regular customer but it seems that that doesn't matter to this business. Lastly I would like to thank the nice gentleman who was outside when I left in tears, he took 2 mins to listen to what I had to say and I really appreciated it. Thank you. Very...

Unfortunately I have to take back my 5 star review. I’ve been a loyal customer for the past 3 years. I buy at least once or twice a month. Last week the sushi was not on par with what they usually serve every time we go there, but I didn’t complain about that. What I did complain about was the tempura. The two shrimp tempuras I ordered were absolutely terrible. completely drenched in oil, with three times the batter they normally have. They were almost the size of corn dogs. When we tried to eat them, the oil coated our mouths and throats. It was disgusting. We threw them out. I called to let them know, and the girl who answered was really nice as usual, she profusely apologized and told me to call back the next day when the owner was in. But when I did, the owner was extremely rude, dismissive, and didn’t value my feedback at all. He just kept saying no one else had that issue, as if that somehow made it okay. We’ve ordered this tempura so many times and it has never come out like that. Instead of acknowledging the problem, he made me feel like I was in the wrong, or like I was begging for something. By the end of the conversation, he said there was a credit for the tempura. So today, I called back because I wanted to place a large order and asked about the credit. Turns out, it was only for one tempura, even though both were completely ruined. When I questioned it, he flat-out said multiple times it was just “one on the house.” Honestly, I’m done with this place. I spend good money here every month, and it’s clear they don’t care about their loyal customers. Making a huge deal about something small that they messed up on. As a business owner myself, I would never treat a regular or any customer like this. Really disappointing. It’s sucks because I’ve sent so many local people to this restaurant. Maybe the owner should take some customer service lessons from the girl who usually answers the phone at least she knew how to handle a...

I am sad to say that I have just removed the Five Star review I wrote for Sushiholic when they first opened. I would be embarrassed if someone read that review now. When it opened I was thrilled that REAL wonderful sushi had arrived in Bowmanville. The fish was very high quality, and the young couple that ran the place were wonderful. The man was so proud of the sushi he made and bragged about the quality of the fish. Boy..have there been changes. I have been very disappointed with the quality of my last two meals. My friend who is a sushi "nut" said that he has noticed the same changes. -the young owners are not there any more. The new people are sullen. -in my opinion the quality of the fish has deteriorated. I had an order of tuna that was dry and tasteless. -when I opened the pick-up box I could smell fish odour (that is NOT right) -the fresh luxurious taste was not there -after eating the sushi....I did not feel well. My sushi friend agreed with me about the quality of the fish. -he reports that he felt ill after eating his large order. -the menu is now full of all sorts of overly fancy rolls with sauces that hide the taste of the fish. In my opinion the sushi here is completely different than it was before, and deserving of a mediocre review at best. no better than any other local place. I will never order from again...nor will my friend, until we see the young couple appear again...if...
