I've been a devoted patron of Staraapples for years, and it's high time I share one of my delightful experiences with this exceptional establishment. The restaurant consistently impresses me with its lively atmosphere, impeccable service, and, of course, mouthwatering cuisine.

From the moment you step inside, Staraapples radiates good vibes. During our recent brunch visit, we were warmly welcomed by the General Manager, Kristy, and immersed in a captivating blend of dancehall and reggae music that seamlessly shifted my mood from nostalgic to gleeful. The vibrant atmosphere, paired with the colorful Caribbean decor, creates the perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience. There's even Christmas decor out now!

The service at Staraapples has always been top-notch. Our new server, Keiyah, not only exhibited efficiency but also politeness and attentiveness. Prompt food delivery and Keiyah's helpful suggestions further enhanced our dining pleasure, making the choice between two enticing options a breeze.

Remaining true to my West-Indian habits, I couldn't resist starting my meal with the cornmeal porridge. This dish was a symphony of creamy texture and the perfect blend of spices, possibly including nutmeg, setting the stage for the culinary adventure that followed. A taste of my wife's Pressed Plantain Bruschetta almost made me regret my starting choice, as the crispy plantain combined with red onions and tomatoes was a delightful treat.

For the main course, I ventured into new territory with the "Chicken N Waffles", accompanied by a side of mac and cheese and coleslaw. Each element of this dish could easily stand out on its own.

The fried chicken was a masterpiece, boasting a perfect balance of crispiness and flavor. The waffles, with their ideal thickness for this meal, provided a delightful contrast. The mac and cheese, rich and satisfying, showcased Chef Perkins' mastery of comfort food. What truly impressed me, however, was the coleslaw—fresh, vibrant, and a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients.

The portions were so generous that I only managed a small taste of my wife's ackee and saltfish and fried dumplings from her "Yardee Platter," and they were equally divine.

In conclusion, Staraapples remains a beacon of excellence in the realm of Jamaican cuisine. Whether you're a seasoned regular or a first-time visitor, the restaurant's captivating ambiance, outstanding service, and delectable dishes are sure to leave a lasting impression. I eagerly anticipate many more years of savoring the flavors of...

I recently had the chance to dine at this amazing Jamaican restaurant, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The music was on point, with a perfect blend of classic Jamaican vibes that set the tone for a fantastic evening. The ambiance was really nice, with good vibes all around, and I was impressed by how clean and well-maintained the place was.

The decorations were also really cool and interesting, totally on theme with the Jamaican vibe - it felt like a little slice of Jamaica right here. Our waitress was super cute and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal.

But the real star of the show was the food. The menu took traditional Jamaican flavors and gave them a contemporary twist, with some really interesting plays on regular appetizers. The plantain bruschetta was a standout - imagine bruschetta mix on top of crispy fried plantains, and you'll get an idea of just how delicious it was.

We also tried the Jerk Taco trio, which was a fun take on traditional jerk flavors in taco form, and the saltfish fritters, which were cooked to perfection. Every bite was full of flavor, and it was clear that the chefs had put a lot of thought into each dish.

To wash it all down, the cocktails were creative and fun, adding to the overall great experience. If you're looking for a Jamaican restaurant that brings something new to the table while still honoring traditional flavors, I'd definitely recommend giving this...

I wanted to take a minute to express my gratitude to the Starapples family for helping me celebrate my 40th birthday party. Everyone is raving over the food and how great a night it was.

From the start, the team was very supportive and very quick on communication. We effortlessly had all the details worked out over email and it was one of the easiest events I've ever had to book/coordinate.

In advance of the party I had been working my way through the menu in selection for the dinner (so many great options). The one item I hadn't yet tried were their chicken wings and let me tell you. The flavors on the sauces were incredible. These are my new favorite items.

The spring roles are a great starter and absolutely gush with rich flavor and deliciousness as you bite into them warm.

The house made spiced rum punch will become a staple in our summer gatherings this year. Put me down for a case! I definitely recommend it.

Of course the Jerk chicken was incredible and it should be the first item you try on your journey through the whole menu!

The starapples family welcomed us like we were a guest in their home, took care of us all evening and they were not satisfied until they were certain that everyone had a positive experience and had a care package of left overs to take home for later.

My most...

Man... i really wish I could come on here and rave about the food, unfortunately this is not that type of review. My husband and I felt like having some yummy food. We both grew up in Toronto. Use to food from there.. but trying to find a place where we can frequent here in durham. Anyways I got the oxtail. Platter which had 3 pieces of oxygen in it and cost $22 and my husband got a curry chicken roti. the ratio chicken curry to Roti was probably. 10% chicken curry and 90% roti it would just was wrapped and just felt like it was smeared on like peanut butter on bread there was. No substance to it whatsoever no chunks of meat or chunks of potato in it. Very disappointed in the amount of food. And quality of the curry chicken. Guys! It was so small. Like tou ciuld puck it up with one hand and eat it.i have never had a roti like that 😔. The roti shell was really yummy. The flavor on the oxtail was really good but there was just not enough of it. We paid almost $40 for lunch, And we're not full after our meals. This place was a lot better when not first opened up. I will not be returning. I really don't mind spending the money if it's worth it. But we were beyond disappointed.
