Even though it was a reservation, we had difficulty getting served. Took awhile to even get the menus or water or tea. But when they came, it was fine. Didn't mind that we had to write in our order (this is typical) but it seemed very awkward. The restaurant was completely full. I noticed that other tables were getting ice in their glasses but we did not (this is minor). Our food came out slowly (not a big deal) but would have a appreciated if they all came out more or less at the same time (our nieces almost finished their meal before we even got our order). Portion size seemed large though, however the pho soup was a little weaker than I'm used to. When I got my bun (vermicelli with beef) I got 2 spring rolls (!). But again, something seemed missing; the beef was fine but I'm used to having shredded carrots & cucumbers and a little mint/ more green onions... our party didn't even receive bean sprouts (usually added in the pho). Read moreEvery foreign restaurant is a civilian/folk diplomatic window, and this brand is one of the brights for Vietnam. Every detail of dining experience speaks subtly to the owner/operator’s taste: the dish (consistent in both locations), the flavour (slightly better in Pho 1 😛), and the interior design (I enjoyed very much in Pho 2). Rich display of Vietnam ethnic elements well-adapted to Canadian/modern appreciation, find on the wall, little inadvertent corners, and also beside your fingertip on the plate. Felt like a thinner broth and...
Read moreAfter a coworker shared her positive review of the restaurant I decided to try it myself..so ordered take out .Something I never do.The mango salad was just delightful..had all the right flavours. A good portion and I enjoyed it. Same goes for the vegetarian spring rolls.Fresh and crispy. I wish I had stopped at that. The entree really failed..sadly the vermicelli was soggy and the fried tofu looked as though it was overcooked and left to dry out. The veggies that came with it consisted of shredded iceberg lettuce. Not at all what I anticipated. This entree needs improvement. There was no seasoning in the noodles whatsoever. I wont order that again and certainly not take out since you cant even see what you are getting. (And there were too many disposable containers...
