I recently dined at 'Daal Roti Indian Tadka House' with a group of friends, and I must express my profound disappointment regarding our experience. While I understand that restaurants may encounter busy periods, the extensive delay in serving our food, approximately an hour and fifteen minutes late, was quite excessive.
What was particularly disheartening was the apparent lack of concern from the restaurant's management regarding the situation. It was evident to us that they were fully aware of the long wait times, yet their response was disappointingly indifferent.
Moreover, when one of my friends inquired about the extended wait time, the response from the server, who appeared to be representing the management's stance, was unexpectedly rude and dismissive, which further marred the overall dining experience.
In addition, we had informed the restaurant in advance about a dietary restriction, specifically a gluten intolerance, for one of our friends. We had ordered rice as an alternative, but after waiting for an hour and a half, we were informed that they had run out of rice, leaving us with limited options and ultimately forcing us to leave without having our dinner.
It is regrettable that our evening at 'Daal Roti Indian Tadka House' was marred by such issues, as we were looking forward to enjoying a pleasant dining experience. We believe that timely and courteous service, as well as honoring dietary preferences, are essential aspects of any dining establishment. We sincerely hope that the management takes these concerns seriously and takes proactive steps to improve the overall...
Read moreCame in twice. On our first visit, I came in with family. It was 3:50. The OPEN sign was on. When we got in the door, the staff were eating and they said that they were closed. They literally chased us out. We couldn’t order take out or anything! The second time was a few days ago. It was horrible. We got there at about 12:30 for lunch. We were excited to taste the buffet. We picked up a few samples on our plate. Stone cold and ugly food. The only thing that was hot was their mess of a culinary experience! I couldn’t believe how horrrible the next move was. A kitchen guy comes out to save us from leaving by tellling us that the food will be warm in “2 minutes!”. I looked at him and told him that the food is straight from a fridge/freezer and that would be impossible. He he nodded and said OK. Well, how about five minutes. The only way this food would be okay in 5 minutes would be if we were in the back bush of Burning fire, and that way we would have it nice and toasty. This guy is delusional. And here I was totally excited for a fabulous restaurant opening in Collingwood, serving gourmet Indian food. What a complete disappointment.. I won’t be returning again —- you’ve lost a...
Read moreDal Roti is a gem of an Indian restaurant, specializing in authentic North Indian cuisine. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly and attentive staff, who made the dining experience even more enjoyable.
The food was absolutely delicious! The curries were rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, showcasing the true essence of North Indian cooking. The variety of naan breads was impressive—soft, fresh, and paired wonderfully with the curries. The appetizers were mouthwatering, with each bite bursting with flavor. We particularly loved the samosas and paneer tikka, which were cooked to perfection.
The lunch buffet is a great option for those looking to sample a bit of everything. It offered a decent selection of dishes, all of which were fresh and tasty. The restaurant’s location on the main road is very convenient, and the ample parking at the rear made our visit hassle-free.
Overall, Dal Roti is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic North Indian cuisine. The combination of delicious food, friendly service, and a convenient location makes it a standout dining experience....
