Airpark Beachwood Cafe — Restaurant in Courtenay

One of the most embarrassing places to eat. I took my mother out for breakfast at this small cafe we use to go to, the beach wood, we still decided to go even with the negativity around the name after the old owners left. We ordered the basic breakfast and didn’t even get our food, it took 45 minutes of us(2 people) waiting patiently. I eventually went to the foodpass and saw the staff (3) standing around talking and then when confronted about the lack of service and food, they quickly apologized. I told them we are leaving due to the extraordinary long wait, and they said “you can’t do that”. I responded yes I can we haven’t even got our food (the time was now approaching a 50 minute wait). Amazing service if you enjoy waiting while watching countless skip the dishes and DoorDash workers receive the orders first, to keep their schedule on track, while ignoring the dining customers. Will not ever come back. We went to white spot across the street and were seated quickly and received our food in less then 10 minutes , when we brought up our experience about the beach wood, the employee said that we a one of many who say the beach wood is a terrible place to eat, they hear it all the time! Thankyou white spot, no thanks...

I ate here a couple years ago and ordered the borscht. Growing up in a small Russian town, my sister and I know what good borcht is. This was not borscht. It was bland beet soup at best. I havent gone back until today... honestly walked into the place by mistake. Got it mixed for the bayside cafe but thought about eating there anyway, until the waitress treated me like a sewer rat. She was short, unfriendly and scowled at me as she spoke. I'm shy, and soft spoken but she literally shot me a dirty glare, shook her head at me and said "I can't hear a word you're saying" and just walked away as I stood at the til. Didn't even offer me a table. I felt embarrassed just for trying to get a table to study at. I dont know if they're going for the Seinfeld Soup Nazzi thing or what (I can't hear what you're saying, NO SOUP FOR YOU!) Either way, I'm not going back...

The food was actually very delicious, but the SERVICE was just downright awful. The server (older, short hair) handed ny 2 year old crayons and under her breath had said "Oh my wall..." when she saw that she had done a little scribble. It's not like we were letting her draw on it, she's still learning. I managed to scrub it off fairly quickly with a baby wipe and mentioned it to her and she responsed "Oh yeah, they are freshly painted" as if it was justifying her response. She was pushy and a snappy when I didn't hear her to first time asking me if I would like jam. When we paid she had said under her breath "and don't come back."
