If you haven’t been to Speed Pub in Ladner yet, you’re seriously missing out on one of the best-kept secrets south of the tunnel. Gurvirt and Sim? Legends. I don’t know what’s in the water back there, but every time I walk in, I leave with a full belly and sore cheeks from laughing too hard.
Let’s talk specials. The beer deals? So good they should come with a warning label. And the kitchen? Oh boy. It’s like your grandma’s cooking—if your grandma stopped guilt-tripping you into eating and just made you beg for seconds. I swear, one bite in and I’m already wondering if it's socially acceptable to lick the plate in public.
And hey, for the designated drivers or the caffeine-fueled warriors out there—the coffee? Always fresh, always hot, and kicks harder than my uncle’s old Pontiac.
Speed Pub is one of those places where you plan to just drop in for lunch and end up staying because the vibes are just that good. Whether it’s a random weekday or a weekend cruise through Ladner, it’s always a pleasure stopping by.
Thanks again Gurvirt and Sim—don’t ever change. And also, save me a seat. I’ll be back...
Read moreUpdate Feb 2024. Went back. New Owners and all. Went at 5 PM for dinner. Steak sandwich was the Special. Was OK. However, pub was 75 % full. And the NOISE level was at 1000%. I have never been in such a noisy place. Where you have to yell to communicate with your partner sccross the table.

Things settle down. Now Spiros (82 something) has a great staff and everything is back to normal. Thus,...
Read moreSpeed's Pub in Delta is on the water, Fraser River, just up from the Ladner Harbour Boat Basin, by the Ladner Pier, in fact it is next door to Sharkey's Seafood Bar & Grille. They served a respectable size piece of breaded cod, with the menu's listed fish & chips selection (cheaper as daily special on Tuesday). A varied selection of both food choices and drinks. Draft beers included Guinness dark stout for a reasonable price! The narrow patio by the water was pretty full when we arrived late in the lunchtime rush but as couples left, the two-tops by the water's edge became available for the 'later' lunch crowd or even happy hour guests. Parking is available on the street and in front. With Sharkey's right next door, not certain how the parking is shared or gets...
