The Spice Root Indian Cuisine — Restaurant in Delta

First time ordering here, and we are impressed! We did the lunch special, which is really like a small Thali, or combo, I guess. For only $10 you get a veg sauce, dal, rice, raita, naan, and a gulab jamun. The price is great for the portion, but we were skeptical, so for 4 of us we added a lamb combo for only $12, same options. We wanted to try the different sauces, so we ordered Shahi Paneer for one, Kadai Paneer for another, and Aloo Gobhi for the last one ... we got Palak Paneer on all three. No big deal, it tasted great, but it was not what we ordered. A quick email or two, and the owner agreed to giving us the other 3 the next day. Went back expecting 3 small dishes, and we got 3 complete meals. Also ordered 4 samosas ... Ladner, are you looking for cheap good veggie samosas? Get them here! Excellent! Over all, the service, (once the error was fixed) was fantastic, the food was excellent, good value for the price. The atmosphere? You know it's good when the spice aroma tickles your senses from across the road! The chicken is absolutely melt in the mouth tender! We ordered the medium heat, yes, there is hot, but medium hit our sweet spot! We enjoyed the spinache chicken, butter chicken, curry chicken. Plus, pilao rice, 2 orders garlic naan & raita. Perfect amount the 3 of us! The bill was very reasonable & quantity beyond expectations! The only area of improvement would be another table; But space is at a premium. Affordable, delectable Indian Spice Root will be on our regular rotation! We can't wait to try some of their other dishes & desserts! Just wish I'd taken pics, but couldn't wait to partake! This is my 2nd visit to this place. Food is great; their amritsari kulcha could be better though, I find Paratha2Pasta better in this dish. However, excellent butter chicken! My favourite from Spice Root is their kadai paneer 11/10. Service is a hit/miss; if you come at a busy time, you'll wait. For eg, I called around 6pm for takeout, I got my order around 7:20pm. I didn't mind the wait that time, but its a good thing I don't have plans after picking it up... kudos to the server though, she's the only one manning the front of the restaurant (cleaning tables, answering phone calls, taking in-person orders, arranging takeout orders, being the cashier). Atmosphere is great, everyone's just chill. Also, parking can be difficult, I walked 1 block back. Its all street parking. You have been warned!...
