We recently visited the beautiful town of Huntsville for a wedding, and my friends had been raving about the food at Beavertail. Naturally, I had to bring my child to experience it for ourselves. We arrived in town quite late, but were happy to find out that Beavertail stayed open until midnight. On Friday night, We walked in around 9 p.m., only to be greeted with a less-than-warm welcome.
The staff member who took our order had a miserable look on her face and didn't bother with a smile or a hello. Despite this, we still tipped her. While she was preparing our food, I noticed her handling the cheese curds with her bare hands, after she had just touched the debit machine without washing her hands. When she tried to hand us the food, I mentioned it was a to-go order. She huffed and puffed, and then moved our food to a different container, grabbing and spreading the remaining cheese curds with her hands once again.
I wasn't comfortable serving this food to my child, so I asked for a refund. She yelled, "That's not going to happen." Thankfully, a more level-headed staff member stepped in and offered us a refund, which was a relief.
It's disappointing that our first night started on such a sour note, but thankfully, other places in town made up for it. For instance, right next to Beavertail is the Nutty Chocolatier, which offers amazing treats served with a smile, positive attitude, and proper...

Now, I’m not usually one to chase down sugary snacks or pay premium prices for a dressed-up piece of dough… but when you’re in Muskoka, surrounded by lakes, trees, and that unmistakable “it’s summer, treat yourself” energy—you might as well dabble in a little le Québécois sugary indulgence.
I grabbed the banana-Nutella option (don’t judge)—delicious, decadent, and basically a carb bomb that moonlights as dessert. Your daily carb limit? Maxed. But the good news? Huntsville has plenty of ways to work it off: paddle boats, charming walks, or just getting lost in those cottage-country vibes.
The joint itself? • ✅ Customer service: Super friendly and efficient • 🎉 Atmosphere: Bright, playful, smells like a carnival • 📍 Location: Perfect for a mid-walk snack or post-lake treat
Give Beavertails a go and enjoy your summer—just maybe don’t check the nutrition...
Read moreWe came for an evening treat around 6:30pm. When we entered the staff member was washing dishes within eyeshot but didn’t acknowledge us or come over to take our order for close to 10 minutes.
When he did his hands were still dripping with dirty dish water that he hadn’t dried off. We said what we wanted and paid and sat off to the side to wait for our food. While watching the young man make our food we noted he didn’t wash his hands and didn't wear gloves while he handled our food.
It was at this time we noticed how dirty and smelly this establishment was. There were crumbs and sticky surfaces on almost all the tables. There was garbage on the floors and when we were called to come grab our order we saw the stand he put our food on was also caked with old sticky food from previous orders.
The BeaverTail itself was amazing, they’re always delicious and our order was made fresh. We did choose to sit outside to eat across the street because of the lack of...
