The food was very good. Very traditional and served in beautiful bowls. This is the reason I have 4 stars.
I don't think we will be back however. The waitress was unhappy and unsure of everything. With any mistake she blamed it on being new, or that she had told the chef so it's not her fault. We had a soy allergy in our group. We asked about options and the waitress asked the cook and came out with a list that said some things can be asked to be made without soy. The person in my group ordered and specified absolutely no soy. I also reiterated to the waitress that there should be absolutely no soy as she seemed disoriented and not really listening. When the order came, there was tofu chunks in it. These are made from a soy bean. When we told the waitress that this does not work with a soy allergy she huffed and said she will ask the cook who was also the owner. We could overhear her saying" They think the tofu has soy in it". She came over and asked if we would like to talk to the owner and we said yes please. He came and we talked about the soy allergy. He was happy, kind and able to accomodate by putting together a dish that my friend could eat that had no soy. When we asked for drinks the waitress again was confused and talked about closing and not having drinks and coming back saying it's not close to closing, and there are drinks. When I ordered the 1 green tea on the menu she took the drink menu from my hands to read it and asked if I knew that they only have one tea on the menu. I said I did know that and that was the one I wanted. The waitress came by to tell us she would be cleaning the washrooms which I found super odd. I could go on and on but I think I've rambled enough to give you the hint.
Overall, great food, but the waitress wrecked...

We got the special menu as we walked in to the restaurant. We asked for the full menu shown in front of the restaurant entrance, and the waiter said the special menu were there because it is "easy to read" (pictures with English and Manderin with only less than 10 choices of dish). He also said the prices shown on special menu include all the tax and tips, the prices on the full menu wer3 lower because it didn't include anything. He gave us the full menu in the end. We compared the prices on the both menu: the noodles were priced $4 ~ $5 higher in the special menu, the shrimp roll had same price (contrast with what waiter said of including tax and tips). We ordered a dish appears on the both menu, and two dishes only appeared on the full menu, we got the bill showing the price higher than the price shown on full menu (e.g. noodles show in full menu costs $12, on special menu is $15, our bill showed the noodles are $15). We didn't pay any extras other than the amount shown on the bill.
During our meal time in the restaurant, we noticed only Chinese people got the special menu, every non-asian people got the full menu as they walked in the restaurant). Some Chinese people who speaks poor English, they gave additional tips because they believed the prices on the special menu were listed without tips, so the restaurant was benefiting from charging the tips twice! The restaurant didn't give Chinese people the option for the tips amount. We felt very angry about this action because it was clearly discriminating Chinese people. Canada as a mutlicultual country should not tolerate this kind of unfair treatment.
DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT, OTHERWISE YOU ARE SUPPORTING RACIAL...
Read moreWe came in a tour group (SuperVacation) and realized our menu is different from other customers. We were charged $15 for something costing $12.95. We were told that the $15 includes tax and 15% tips which seemed fine to us...But when we got the bill, owner charged us $15 PLUS tax and PLUS 15% tips again!!! When confronted, the owner argued and finally gave us the money that they double charged us back! These people should be reported to the IRS for tax fraud! They serve tourists all the time and I am sure this is NOT the first time they do this. And the food sucks as well...The meat in the pho was hard...The bowl was big but not the portion. Please do not tell us you need to hire more people to serve us tourists and that's why we have a higher priced menu. The fact is if you can't handle tourists, other restaurants would be more than happy to take over! And with much lesser prices as well!
Also, there's only ONE restroom for the whole restaurant. And you have to get the restroom key from the server. Restrooms have names on them...You can only use Pho Vuongs restroom... Definitely not a place for tourists! I don't know why we were forced to pay a 15% tip considered the poor service we got and the yucky food. Geez...What a waste of time and money...
