About 2 years ago we went for an early dinner just after Christmas time. We order our food, the table beside us sat down, ordered, ate their food and left before we even received ours. Our waitress said NOTHING the entire time to us, no apology, nothing. We were okay because we were just talking, but by the time we got the food the experience was kind of ruined so we didn't even really want our food anymore.
We waited to try Milestones again for about a year after that...
This time our service was terrible again, the waitress was very rude and very slow. I honestly can't even remember what I ordered, I just remember it wasn't good. He ordered a steak which was WAY over cooked, and his mashed potatoes were ice cold. By the time the waitress came to check our food he had eaten the steak because he was hungry but he complained about the potatoes, she didn't really care..I think he ended up getting French fries instead, which were brought to the table by the time we were done eating so they didn't get touched. We paid our expensive bill and left, I remember saying next time I want to come here say absolutely not.
And it wasn't until last night that we returned, about a year later again...
Our server was nice and friendly but the service was very slow. She kept saying "I'll be right back to take your order", "I'll be right back with the debit machine", but would return like 10-15 minutes later. We weren't too hungry so we just ordered 4 appetizers to share..2 soups, Spinach artichoke dip and the Asian lettuce wraps. While we were waiting for our food I had to ask for 2 new soups spoons as both of them were dirty and had old food stuck to them. The food took pretty long to come and when it arrived nothing was hot. Both of our soups were luke warm, I was looking forward to it being nice and hot because we were seated by the window and I was freezing cold. Both the soups had rock hard, stale croutons in them. I just sucked it up and ate most of my cold soup, he sent his back and she took it off the bill. The Spinach dip was nothing special and the lettuce wraps didn't taste like much at all. We actually had to wait for a good 15 minutes to dig into the lettuce wraps because the waitress took that long to come back for a quality check, and then we could ask her for plates to eat the off of... I think we all know how messy they can be. Even though the soup was taken off our bill we still paid about $45 three mediocre appetizers...I wish we didn't pay for any of it but both of us hate complaining...
Needless to say, I will...
Read moreFood is good. Service is poor. The butternut squash ravioli was good but very light and could have used some sauce. I saw on the bill "garlic cream sauce optional $0" but was not offered this. That would have made it shine. The ramen was great. Kids' meal grilled salmon was a great portion, perfect for my eight-year-old. No colouring or activities for kids. Unfortunately, the food took a long time to come out, which was a tad tortuous with two hungry kids. Sadly, after that, the server disappeared. But everything was good until we were done eating. Eventually, what looked like a manager came by. I gave our dessert order, asking for it to go saying I know the kids' one has ice cream, but the kids would eat in the car as it was getting late. Good on him for knowing we would want the check, except why did it take so long? After receiving the check, close to 30 minutes later, he asked if I needed the machine. I said yes and asked for the desserts. Based on his response, he had clearly forgotten. Another 10 or so minutes later another server brought the machine to pay. Again I had to ask for the to-go desserts. Finally, they came out pretty quickly and was assured that the ice cream was in there. It was not. But I had already gotten the kids in the car and gratefully my son was okay with having just the cookie and not the ice cream, although I was charged for it. And some forks or spoons would have been great, but I won't fault them for that since maybe it's unusual. Nonetheless, after spening more time waiting than actually ordering and eating combined, sometimes I wish I was the type of person who could leave a lesser tip for poor service, because in this case, the tip left was not...
Read moreWe had gone to other locations of Milestones several times before COVID and were always very happy with our experience. Recently we decided to go to the Newmarket location. We were received by a hostess that was pleasant enough. She seated us at the closest table to the door where a draft came from the door every time the door opened. We asked to switch tables because of the cold but the hostess told us there were no other tables except at the bar even though there 2 empty booths and 4 empty tables in the center. She said they were reserved. When another occupied booth emptied we asked to move. The Hostess cleaned the booth and we had to move our own utensils and drinks. We arrived at 6:30pm and left at 8:30pm no one ever filled those other seats. We had the coconut calamari, sirlion steak dinner with vegetables and the chimichurri sea bass. The calamari and the seabass were excellent. The sirloin order was taken by one server who took our order wrong. We asked for medium-well steak and the vegetables well cooked. The steak came medium rare and the green beans came almost raw, they replaced the veggies but we tollerated the steak. They offered us free dessert and coffee to compensate and gave us 10% off. Our server was very good and felt very bad for the mistakes. She actually salvaged the whole experience. But we were very disappointed in the hostess. Although the food was very good for the most part thus the 3 stars. The experience overall left us with a bitter taste in our mouth and we will not likely return to this location...
