Have you been to the Baltyk Bakery? You should go. It has been declared the best bakery in Edmonton by the 10 year old. The 20 month old agrees. Husband and I agree that they have the best sausage roll that we have ever tasted. Thier croissants are the original style, not the super buttery and flakey France version. You might think that's strange, but they taste amazing! The donuts, half of us are team raspberry, half of us are team plum. We are all team poppyseed! Either way, this is a fantastic family outing!

I went to Baltyk bakery during my visit to Edmonton and enjoyed their donuts. I stopped by during Polish Fat thursday, and there were lots of people who wanted to enjoy their famous doughnuts and desserts. I got a box of 6 different ones for only $15 and they were really fresh! i recommend this place, it's worth the detour and the staff is patient and ready to help you if you're not familiar with their desserts. Ps. it’s cash and/or debit only :)

I love this store. Can highly recommend the rogalik (crescent shaped bread rolls), makowiec (large poppyseed roll, not pictured), drożdżówki z makiem (the poppyseed bun, pictured) and paczki (Polish donuts, get it with plum jam). I bought the meringue cake for people who are gluten-free, and it was a big hit. The Forest Moss/Spinach Cake is also equally delicious- look past the green and you are in for a treat :D

They have decent European rye bread and jam-filled donuts. However I have found that as of recently, pastry quality can be hit or miss - they will either be delicious, or dry and stale. Staff are often unfriendly, and make it seem like you're a burden for coming in to make a purchase.

What irks me most though is their payment options. They don't take credit cards - fine, there is a sign that states that, so I pay with a debit card. However they seem to have introduced a purchase minimum even for debit payments (??), such that you cannot pay amounts under $5 by debit. Note there is NO sign that advises of this.

Since it is not 1995, I do not carry cash, and sometimes all I want to buy is a loaf of bread rather than an expensive cake. There are other good European bakeries in the area that do take both debit and credit, as well as upfront with their payment options, which will now get more of...

I've been a few times. I like their yeast dough and bread type products. Not a fan of their pastries. I also found them inconsistent with quality.

I've had their jelly doughnuts and was impressed, so ordered an advance large quantity for a dinner I was hosting. I picked them up the day of the dinner. I should have opened the boxes at the bakery to check for quality because opening them in front of my guests was embarassing. The jelly completely fell out of almost all of them and they were SUPER dry, which leads me to believe they were made in advance by at least 2 days.

Worth going but don't set high...

Just tried the carrot cake and the pumpkin cake and I have to say they are DELICIOUS!!! Such a perfect treat for fall. This place is a must if you are looking for delicious treats. There are so many things to choose from. Strongly recommended!!

And if you are looking for cakes for special occasions that is also the place to go. The variety of rich and real flavours to choose from is great. And it's good to know that they have been made from real ingredients and not fake stuff. My kids all love these cakes. Made to order so you know...
