I’m not the type to leave nasty reviews, but I felt compelled to given the food I had and the service I received.
Went there recently and ordered the falafel platter. Which was $20, and like, fair, it was a lot of food. But not remotely GOOD food. Probably the most bland, dry and lifeless falafel platter I’ve ever had (a dish I’ve ordered from many places). The falafel was dry and flavourless. The hummus was legit the worst hummus I have ever had- it tasted like someone smashed a bunch of canned chickpeas, and that’s it. Clearly they forgot that hummus can have olive oil, garlic, salt added etc, because it was like a dry chickpea paste, at best. The Fatoush salad should just be called a green onion salad, because that’s what like 70% of it is. I don’t mind an accent but I pulled out a MOUNTAIN of giant chunks of green onion. Talk about overkill. The tahini sauce was again, dry and pasty. Not sure why their cooks are afraid of a little olive oil and flavour. Falafel is so easy to make so flavourful, it was honestly bizarre.
That, and it’s kind of annoying when there’s giant signs everywhere saying YOU MUST WEAR A MASK, and the dude behind the counter had his around his chin while he made my food, laughing it up. It was pretty gross and frankly had I not already ordered I would’ve just turned around and left.
Overall, not gonna be back...
Read moreNot really sure why or where the 5 star reviews are coming from, friends and family perhaps? My husband and I can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences we've had eating out recently. The main problem was the quality of food. My chicken shawarma had no flavour, bone fragments that I had to pick out, and the sauce was not tasty either. About an hour after eating I got food poisoning from the chicken shawarma and was throwing up! Not sure whether it was unsafe food handling or that the chicken wasn't cooked, but I was not having a good time. Second problem was the cashier royally messed up our order. She charged us for a platter instead of a wrap which was more expensive, we did not get the extra sauce we ordered, and when we called about the sauce her response was 'oh well it was only 50 cents'. Excuse me? It doesn't matter what the cost is, I paid for something that I didn't receive so 50 cents or 50 dollars, that's not how you should be responding to problem. I don't usually write negative reviews I just won't visit a business again, but the entire experience was awful and I don't want others to suffer the food poisoning and bad service that we got. We live a few houses down and it's not even worth it for us to ever go back which shows how poor of an...
Read moreI've been waiting excitedly for weeks for Captain Shawarma to open up and they didn't disappoint. It's only day 2 since they've opened and I was expecting chaos but was greeted with such friendly service and an exceptional meal. I was even gifted a complimentary bite of dessert while I waited for them to prepare my food. This is a family run business and everyone is contributing and working hard. Makes you want to really help them succeed. After researching some of their menu items online during their construction I knew that the Captain was offering more than your traditional Canadian style donairs and I had to go straight for the traditional Lebanese offerings. I'm pretty sure I've had the best Shish Taouk in recent memory today. Freshly grilled chicken skewer, coleslaw, garlic sauce and fries wrapped in a pita. This is comfort food to me and it's perfect on the go or at home. I'm already anxiously awaiting my next visit and find myself at a dilemma wether to order the Shish Taouk again or to try something different to which I'm confident will be equally delicious. I would fully recommend trying out...
