It's a close one with Popeye's but Church's would have to be my favourite fast-food fried chicken joint. They have a better selection of sandwiches and to be honest, unpopular opinion I'm sure, I think they taste a bit better. This particular review is for their non sandwich items. I recently got a small bucket of chicken, fries, gravy, jalapeno bombers and coleslaw. Chicken was cooked perfectly, outside was crispy, meat was hot and juicy and the best part , it was not overly greasy like KFC and Popeye's. And believe it or not, their spicy chicken actually has some spice to it. Fries were good and crispy, bombers were tasty. The biscuits are unique and taste so good. They have a honey glaze that sets them apart from Popeye's and has a nice sweet and salty vibe. I normally hate fast-food coleslaw as it always looks like it was processed in the heart of the Fukushima nuclear power plant and has an unnatural green glow but with the coleslaw at Church's, it actually looks like what coleslaw should look like. It even tastes pretty good. Last few visits have been great, service was friendly and food has always been hot and fresh. Nice to see them start to spread out to the west end. Still would totally drive to the north end for their chicken though.

What a shady and dishonest place!!! i was at the westmount 111 ave Church’s Chicken and i asked for 2 of the advertised specials. The guy at the register said it was a walk in special one per person who physically walked in. i pointed out that No where on the sign did it say “limit of one”. i explained that i had a handicapped person in the car that couldn’t walk and get in the store, if he could make an exception. “No way” i was told. The fellow then proceeded to get me the chicken and biscuit. He took 5 minutes+ to lift every piece of chicken on a tray (30+pieces) to find the absolute tiniest piece. i pointed out that the sign said the piece had to be a leg or thigh (and this was not either of those). He basically told me to take it or leave it. He also refused to give me my receipt when i said i would report this. This was my first and last time here. If they’re this dishonest with their sales promotions, i really don’t trust them with the food. The biscuit was also doughy inside so i threw it out. I definitely can see why they’re so desperate for customers.

Went through the drive-thru & Ordered a mexicana sandwich with jalapeno bombers, when he said what to drink I said no thank you, he said no worries I’ll give you a honey biscuit. Now from past experiences I have had one and it was more dry than a popcorn toot, BUT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. This biscuit was warm, fluffy, and a little crunchy on top. Wow I wish I got a whole box of the honey biscuits. Then the next item I ate was the jalapeno bombers, great texture, cooked throughout, and they were spicy! Did not disappoint!! Next item was the BIG sandwich, so the bun was flattened and dry, I did add the creamy jalapeno dip on it, typically I don’t like raw onions but they were red onions and it was a good flavour, I didn’t taste the tortilla chips though. Overall I am fully satisfied, churches has redeemed themselves from past experiences. My new favourite fried chicken sandwich for fast food!

I was on a tight schedule so I wanted some fast food. Food I could get fast. I had never tried Church's so I went in. There were only two cars in the drive-through as I walked up. No line inside so I went straight up to the counter. The clerk served someone a meal and then came to ask for my order. A simple two-piece combo with coleslaw. All the chicken was already cooked and displayed on the pass-through window. So were the biscuits. The coleslaw was already prepped and sitting in the fridge right in front of me.

I filled my drink and then proceeded to wait. I watched the staff struggle to fill a couple of other orders for people waiting in booths and a couple more through the drive-through. Then they repacked an order "to go" that was incorrectly prepped for dine-in. I waited eight minutes to have someone hand me items that were already cooked and ready to go before I walked in the door.

The food was cooked in anticipation of a sale before I got there. Dozens of original recipe pieces and dozens of spicy pieces. Dozens of biscuits too. Most of which were still there and ready for dozens of customers who must have been expected to arrive after me. Eight minutes is a long time in a fast food restaurant. Just try watching a McDonald's for eight minutes and count how many people get served, you'll begin to understand.

I got my food. It was hot. The biscuit was good. The original recipe chicken I ordered was bland. Did they leave all the herbs and spices in Kentucky? Did Popeye corner the market on flavour? Was I going to be late for my appointment? I don't really have an answer to the first two questions. I will just go to Kentucky or visit Popeye next time I want chicken. Maybe Mary Brown has room at her table.

Update: It's 4 days later and I am in a Popeye's. The server here had my order on the tray and handed it to me before I could get to the fountain to...

I only ordered from here because I had hurt my tooth and was looking for mashed potatoes, I ordered thru skip and got the BOGO 3 PC chicken meal, with fries and onion rings + side of mash, gravy and two sauces. The mash + gravy where absolutely terrible, do not recommend, I assume its a unique acquired flavour that is added into the gravy but I do not like it, the mash, could have been edible but seems it was made with only water and no salt, :( no butter or milk, I just couldn't eat it, waste of 10$ but whatever. The chicken and sauce was good I only tried the BBQ one, got honey mustard but didn't open it, the biscuit was ok, my partner didn't like it though, esp since there was no good gravy, drink was ok, would be great if they had a larger size. If you're ordering for two I suggest 4-5 PCs max, with sides or 6 if no side. Fries and onion rings didn't seem fresh, kind of cold and stale but the flavour + texture was good, likely best if reheated in the air fryer for a few mins. yes the chicken is really soft, some people may not like it, thankfully for me it was soft enough to not hurt my teeth and was pretty tasty with or without sauce, I got mine mix spice he got original, at least I was able to eat something, after the mash potato failure.

Suggestions for the restaurant: -Make plain gravy for regular people, and offer your special gravy as an upgrade. -State that the Mashed potatoes are made with water and maybe add an option to add a bit of butter or some milk? -Larger drink options. -Make sure sides are...

Last night I came to the drive thru almost 8pm I'm using my ebike instead going inside it takes time for me and I forgot to bring my lock. I know she saw me already coz she is on the counter area she turns go inside the kitchen meaning she ignore me,one staff in the kitchen she saw me but again ignore I knock on the window 4times no-one came to talk to me again this lady she sit on the chair knowing she did not saw any customer in the window. One staff in the kitchen same person just ignore I knock again in the window 5times that's the time she approached me and she said we are not taking any more order in the drive thru if your using bike. Ok I understand if they will not taking any order from drive thru if you're using bike I get mad and almost angry waiting in the window for more than 10mins.its hard to say to your customer that they will not taking any more orders in drive thru if your using bike.since that restaurant build on that place I'm already regular customer on that store before the staff is educated they know how to talk to the customer they will explained it to you,but now sorry for my word it's worst you need to each your staff how to talk to the customer especially those customer are loyal to your store if you will not teach your staff you will loose your customers FYI YOU LOSE ONE CUSTOMER IS EQUAL TO 10 CUSTOMERS.. so I decided not to order anymore I don't want to argue coz...
