used to work at earls about 6 years ago, started the same day that my friend started which he is now a sous chef at the earls on campus .... would always recommend friends and family to go eat at earls, since i usesd to work there i know almost everything is house made... for the past while ive had bad experience going to this one "170 earls" and "WEM Earls".... everytime i know what their doing is wrong and not how its suppose to be i text my buddy which is a sous chef at the other earls on whyte.... they always make up excuses but usually take the problem off the bill. For example me and the gf went to go eat she got the cajun cesar salad and tasted fishy, knowing that they use anchovys in the cesar dressing told her they must of add too many or its old... when i told the server she said that its a new recipe and started to add more, but did take the item off the bill... texted my buddy and he told me that the recipe was still the same from when i worked there, and i have made that cesar dressing a few times when i did work there.... but no problems may of got lied to but they did take it off the bill..... yesterday tho i went to earls on 170th and sat at the bar, order a drink and was asked if i wanted food. i said ill order in 10min when its 3 for the happy hour menu. looking over the menu i see hot and jerk wings, coming there for hot wings i thought i give this a try. the menu says "Hot + jerk wing platter" in my head im thinking its hot wings "and" jerk wings on a platter so 2lbs of wings for $18.5 during the happy hour. the main menu shows wings for $13.5 which is supposed to be a pound... happy hour usually means you get a deal so $18.5 for two pounds instead of $27 for two pounds, so thats why i order that.... getting my food there was a total of 11 wings, i didnt say anything at first but took a pic and sent it to my buddy, im not much of a complainer and wanted to try these new wings... the menu also said the jerk wings came with onions ontop which they dont have as you and tell in the pic. but not much of a complainer as i am that didnt bug me as long as they tasted good, the jerk wings are pretty good and i did enjoy the flavor.... well eating my wings i would place each bone in order on the side dish knowing that at the end of eating i was gonna ask them a question... once all 11 wings were eaten they were placed on the side dish in a easy way to count to show how many were really there.... the bartender seem busy cleaning her cups and poured only a couple drinks not asking me if i was done, which i was. So there was another server beside me wiping the cutlery, so i asked her if i could ask a question she said ok... i pointed to the main menu which was still at the bar and said "if i wanted to order hot wings but wanted half hot and half bbq would you guys be able to do this" since i used to work at earls i knew the answer as ive had to do this order many times with different flavor wings, even orders that wanted them mix... all we use to do is take half the order from the deep fryer and place it in the hot sauce bowl and half in the bbq or grab a new bowl if they wanted it mixed. .. so her answer was yes, i then asked how many wings are usally in a pound she said 8-12, i said then why am i paying $5 more for 11 wings that are pretty much half jerk and half hot and showed her my side dish which you could clearly see and count.. the only thing she could come up with was "ummm its based on weight" and walked away... fair enough but how much should a hot and jerk wing platter weigh? one pound? should of just order one pond and got half hot and half jerk.... plus since i use to work there i had to portion hot wings many times, especially on wing Wednesday when the portions would run out and had to run to the cooler and grab more chicken wings and portion to order... which was usually 10-12 for a pound...
Read moreThe server we had was ridiculously terrible! She seemed very friendly at first and smiley. However, she would take forever to bring drinks and food. We ordered wings and crab cakes to start but only got the wings. We thought maybe it takes a while for crab cakes so we waited. We had to stop her and ask if the crab cakes were on its way which she said they should be out really soon. They never came. Even though we asked for drink refills she'd walk by our table to other tables with other people's drinks. So we waited thinking she's either forgetful or busy. But it was pretty dead at 2pm. Our food finally came out and still no crab cakes. The food tasty. My dad ordered the peppercorn steak done medium. He substituted his cooked veggies for carrots and lettuce with balsamic vinegarette dressing on the side. His steak came with some kind of brown gravy which tasted like smokey bbw on it which usually isn't peppercorn unless the menu states it's peppercorn sauce which it didn't. Cut into his steak to find it was extremely pink!! He figured maybe it's the first piece and it'll get better. Nope! Pink pink pink. At this point the crab cakes came out! Had to ask for his dressing which came out yellow. Balsamic is usually a dark dressing. My dad just ate it anyways. We don't like to cause problems with service or food at restaurants. Had to ask AGAIN for drink refills. After we finished our meals my dad asked for another sangria. I had went to my car to get something and came back and still no Sangria. I went to the washroom and came back and no Sangria but my dad had already paid the bill and canceled his Sangria. We could see it sitting on the bar but our server kept going passed us to other tables with drinks. She did charge for the extra sangria so my mentioned it to her. It was taken off the bill but she decided to thank my husband who happens to be Caucasian while my dad pays the $250 bill. Seriously! We get home only to find the receipt says pepper sauce with the steak and was charged $3 for it! Which means it was supposed to be a peppercorn rub not gravy. My mom calls the restaurant and is told to email the manager. So there's no manager on duty on a Saturday?! Find that...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Earls valentines with the in-laws, and I am compelled to share my overwhelmingly positive experience, thanks to the extraordinary service provided by the remarkable receptionist who also graciously served us. Her name was Tayler.
From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a her with a genuinely warm and friendly demeanor. What struck me most was her unparalleled politeness and the ease with which she accommodated our multiple table changes, despite my in-laws not being the easiest patrons. Her patience and understanding truly set the tone for an exceptional dining experience.
It became evident that this receptionist was not just limited to her role at the front desk.
What truly made our evening unforgettable was her willingness to go above and beyond. Not only did she handle our table changes without a fuss, but we also noticed her lending a helping hand to our waitress whenever it was needed. This collaborative effort amongst the staff was a testament to the tight-knit and supportive team.
In addition to her exemplary professional skills, she added a delightful touch of humor to our dining experience. Making jokes with the father in law, who seldom laughs, was a feat in itself. Her ability to connect with patrons on a personal level demonstrated a rare combination of professionalism and genuine hospitality.
It was evident that Tayler, I believe that is the correct spelling of her name, set an exemplary standard for service, not only by exceeding our expectations but also by serving as a supportive team player. Her commitment to ensuring a seamless dining experience for us, along with her contribution to the overall harmony of the restaurant, deserves special recognition.
She was a shining example of exceptional service and hospitality. We eat at all of Earls from time to time but Tayler really stood out especially bearing in mind how busy it was that night.
My father in law would have written this himself but he's not one for technology. Thanks again, Tayler, for that added warmth and laughter that accompanied the...
