Welcome to Jack’s burger where everyone for every burger will get a BEATING! Came here for the first time. This place has Kung Fu violence and assault with its service. Cops were called. I got assaulted by the owner on the first visit. Damn the owner gets physical with his customers watch out for his temper!!
Story: I went in to try their burger. I ordered a burger and fries. There were barely any veggies. I asked for him to add some veggies on there, he started complaining about food cost rises. If you don’t like it leave. I said I paid for the service. Please provide it. He became defensive and would not give me neither is a burger, nor the money back. I said I will be writing a review for this service. He said I am popular and am well known. He thought his fame would cover for his angry mistakes. He called the cops to remove me without giving me the burger or the money back.
I sat patiently waiting for the cops all of the sudden the owner decided to launch an assault on me while I was sitting at the dining table. I was recording, so he tried to rip out my phone from my hand in order to destroy evidence against him. He grabbed me by the throat. He grabbed my arms, my shoulder he pinned me to the ground. He threw me on the tables and chairs. This guy is an absolute maniac. He lost his mind!!!!!! Whoooohoooo welcome to Jack’s Burger everyone!
Cops arrived, and they asked me if I want to charge him with assault. They said he has not had any record in the past and so I let it go with an apology so he doesn’t have to hire a lawyer and pay money. This good gesture, hopefully will make him think twice next time before attacking anyone. And maybe not just watch out people. We have one angry...
Read moreI've been here twice now and I have to say, it just isn't that great. Don't get me wrong, it isn't terrible either. You could certainly do worse.
I've had two burgers, the peanut butter one and the standard with bacon and cheese. Both were okay, but not great. They were largely flavorless save for salty, and texture was very mushy. The bun was dry. I got the poutine the first time and regular fries the second. Both were largely bland save for saltiness. Overall just very plain Jane.
The atmosphere is small, dark and loud. The restaurant has a very high ceiling so sound carries, and it's very narrow so it bounces. Which makes it so even a small group of people can be very loud in there.
All of that could be forgiven, but the price is really something. I understand inflation is hard in all of us, and I'm not even saying the prices aren't fair. They're just high. Both times I went I paid close to 30 dollars. Ouch.
On the positive, the staff are terrific. All the cooks are keeping their eyes on the prize the service staff are very friendly and professional, any restaurant would be lucky to have such a crew. It's a shame they can't make up for the rest.
Overall I can't in good conscience recommend this...
Read moreLearned about Jack's through Downtown Dining Week and decided to take the plunge and order from them. Ordered the Hangover Burger, fries and soft drink.
I have never had a burger quite like this. First of all, it was huge! One patty sandwiched between two pieces of bread (?) and cheese (?). The patty itself was thin but that didn't matter because it was simply delicious. The toppings were simple (pickles, mustard and ketchup) but they were the perfect amount as they did not spill out the sides and left me with room to add additional toppings when I got home. (I added more ketchup and Dijon mustard. Yum.)
The amount of fries was more than generous, and though I usually like to tackle them first, I started to get very full and had to take a break to eat the burger then finished off the fries later.
It should also be noted that the staff were very friendly and polite. Good service!
For $20 + tax, Jack's Burger Shack definitely gave me my money's worth and ticked alot of boxes that are important to me: deliciousness, generous portions, good service, great bang for my buck. Will definitely check this place out again and recommend it to others! Thanks for the delightful Downtown Dining...
