My kids and I used to love coming here for the delicious food and friendly service!! The ladies here before were wonderful and always friendly. However, 2 nights ago we were treated not so nicely. The woman was a bit older and she didn’t seem like she wanted us to be there. No smiles, no warmth, not very welcoming… just more of an annoyed face making us feel like she didn’t want our business. I was a little confused at first but just continued on, thinking, oh maybe she just had a bad day and not to take it personally. But when she proceeded to take our order, she just didn’t seem like she wanted to help us with the menu at all and actually seemed quite annoyed at our questions. I usually order the same thing and all the other times they have been so nice and helpful with everything. This time it just felt like this lady was annoyed and just didn’t want us to eat there or something. We ordered the egusi that comes with the pounded yam and the Banku & fish. I asked which fish dish to order because the fufu with light fish soup looked good too. I asked her if the fish in the soup was fried - again she gave me the face of my question being ridiculous. Then she said the banku, and I asked her what the sauces were and she just said “spicy”. So I asked if all the sauces were spicy, she just nodded her head. Her face was NOT happy. So I told her that I’ll get the other one because we can’t eat spicy foods(because of my kids). But she pointed out that our ethnicity should eat spicy. I told her that I’m not of that ethnicity and she said “oh well, then what are you?” I told her. Then she said “oh yeah, then you don’t eat spicy, but your friend does because she’s of the other ethnicity…..I’m just going to ignore these comments because I didn’t want to entertain it. Then I pointed out the reason was because my children can’t eat spicy. She said just said “oh”. She put our order in and then came back and told us that they didn’t have enough fufu for the egusi dish. I had ordered 2 so that if there’s any leftovers, I could take them home. So I asked if I could then just get 2 orders of the banku instead. She was reluctant at first, which I thought was strange, but maybe it was because of miscommunication or something. She just kept telling me they don’t have the fufu. I understood that. So when we got it all sorted, she just didn’t seem happy about me ordering more banku. It was just off putting to me because I just like their food so much that I wanted to take some home. Before the food came, she asked us if we wanted the bowl of water. In the past, they always gave this to us whenever ordering any dishes with fufu and taught us how to use it. We said yes to the bowl of water. The food came and it was all delicious. When we were done, she came to clear the dishes and pointed out the fact that she knew the fufu wouldn’t be finished “because they are just children”. Which, when the egusi came out, she actually gave us 2 fufus. Soo… not sure what happened. I was happy either way. I told her it was because we liked to bring extra home to eat later. Again, no smiles, nothing. Just really didn’t seem like she cared or wanted our business at all. Honestly, if you’re going to be working in the service industry and you’re not happy — it’s better to stay home because it does have a major effect on your patrons. She gave us the machine to pay and then just handed us the slip from the debit machine. I asked her if i could get the actual bill and she was shocked I asked this and just stared at me for an uncomfortably long time. So I explained that it was for my business. She went away to write it up for me but this took quite some time. The egusi dish was $38!! It was small portion!! Also, the bowl of water was $1. ……??? Just wash your hands in the bathroom - which we did, but thought that this bowl of water came free with the meal which it did in the past. Wasn’t told we had to pay for this. Didn’t realize it until after we paid when she wrote out the bill afterwards. Very bad service. Not worth it. Won’t be coming back unfortunately.

Mama of 4 here with an honest review. From the outside you wouldn't be able to tell what a gem this place is. From the decor to the bar and then the food! Wow absolutely delicious. The customer service is delightful. She makes you feel like home. If you are from Africa especially, the food here is sure to delight. I am from African specifically Kenya but even so, eating the cuisine from West Africa feels like you are eating at a friend's house who has prepared the food with so much love. It has great portion sizes, the taste is actually one of the best I have had so far. Even the presentation on the plate is delightful. If you are looking to try authentic West African food then Mon Amie Resto is the place to be. Their menu has a wide selection of food and drinks. I am excited to bring the kids here to try some food as I visited as part of an event that we organized for the organization TH.I.N.K meetups. They were very accommodating and made out group feel very welcome. Thank you Mon Amie Resto. I will be back with my family to enjoy more items on your menu.

The place looks great, but the food does not taste great. Pictures in the menu are awesome, but, like the pictures below shows, the actual food looks different from the menu. Their suya is dry meat with onions. The Jollof does not taste or smell like Nigerian Jollof. The chicken is dry and does not taste great. The spicy goat meat is dry and very spicy with onions. Lots of onions. You have to buy bottle water to drink water. I don't think they take their food very seriously. I gave them 2 stars because they gave us free bottle water when we asked for water.

This is food from Ghana! Something that isn't on the menu or restaurant that you might like to know! I have not had this kind of west African cuisine before so my review is just my opinion and observation.

At first glance the place is cute and clean, the bar is something to be desired but if you're nice then maybe you'll get to try the house made spirits with herbs which I enjoyed. I ordered for take away but got a meat stick to try as I waited.

The food didn't look as good as the menu photos, and the meat was definitely dry / overdone but I really enjoyed the flavour. The fish was my favourite dish. I got Jollef rice and goat (instead of chicken), honestly the meat was hard to determine what it was because it was heavily dried. I thought it would have been more saucy. Maybe this is what it's meant to be? I'm not sure. Very strong tomato paste flavour in the rice, did not notice anything else (veggies or herbs). There wasn't much to the rice, did not think that the amount or the style was a 30$ value. That's just a guess btw they didn't list the prices I paid for each item so I'm not sure... The fish and banku dish was my favourite but it did not come with all the sauces that were pictured sadly. It came with a fresh tomato and chili sauce and some kind of oil that tasted like beef jerky that was unique and I liked it but wasn't sure how to eat it

I should have gotten veggies on the side there was not a single vegetable in my dishes. I ordered plantains and yams (I consider this a starch / carb not a veggie) as a side They were delicious! But I really like a lot of veggies it was not well rounded meal for me and my tastes… I'm going to need some serious fibre haha

With everything that I ordered plus dessert of course, I would say it was enough to maybe feed two people but for that price I was a bit surprised, I did not feel it was worth over $100 that included tip the service was amazing, I really liked the people that were there they were very helpful telling me about the dishes and giving me their preferences I'm grateful that I tried it but I don't know that I would make it habit just based on the price the amount of food and the quality. If it was cheaper I would for sure go back but it's not worth it for $50 a person in my opinion. Meat being really dry and overcooked and hard was kind of sad because I do think it was good meat and I did like the spices.

For 120$ I was a little surprised what I took home. There are no prices or itemized receipts they just made something up from what it seemed like...

Food for me was 3/5 room for improvement. If the price was lower it would be a lot more reasonable, otherwise I would expect more...

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant yesterday. From the moment I walked in, I was met with rudeness. The staff member who greeted me was unprofessional, speaking to me in a condescending tone. I informed her that I was there to pick up my food, and instead of a simple, clear response, she curtly told me to sit and wait. When I asked how long I would need to wait, she repeated that I should just sit and wait without giving me any timeline. When my order was finally ready, I asked for pepper, only to be told it was too late to ask for that now. Despite this frustrating interaction, I attempted to proceed with the payment. To my shock, I was charged $70, whereas my usual order from doordash or Uber typically costs $58. When I questioned the difference, she claimed it was due to taxes. I requested to see the receipt, and she acted surprised, stating that receipts are not provided to customers, only to them. I insisted on seeing it, and that’s when I discovered they had sneakily charged me an additional tip of nearly $10 without my consent. When I confronted her about this unauthorized tip, she blamed the machine, claiming it wasn’t her doing. I told her that had she asked nicely, I might have considered tipping, but her rude behavior from the start made that impossible. After some back-and-forth, she reluctantly refunded me $7, but I insisted on getting the full $9.45 that was wrongly charged. She then argued that a fee was necessary, which was entirely unacceptable. I felt cheated and disrespected. To add insult to injury, when I got home, the food portion was shockingly small—just two tiny pieces of meat. It was a complete rip-off, and I was thoroughly disappointed. This restaurant not only provides terrible service but also engages in deceitful practices. I strongly urge others to stay away from this place—they are nothing short of thieves! I will...
