This restaurant was the closest "halal" food place we found nearby our accomodation. When we arrived, we noticed this "restaurant" is a little shack-in-the-wall in a sketchy hood. We were a little hesitant to go in but decided to give it a try regardless.
First thing we noticed was that they sell alcohol (weird for a halal restaurant). Our gut feeling was to just leave but both the missus and I were hungry and this place was supposed to be open till midnight so we sat down for dine-in. There are only three shabby, worn-out tables and seats and they were quite dirty.
The lady (also the cook) took our order and brought us water...glasses had stains, like they were not washed properly....another red flag.
We would have felt guilty leaving without ordering so we motored on and ordered just one dish (chicken tikka masala). We had to wait for a little bit because the owner/chef/server said she was going to cook the food fresh. While we were waiting, we had to endure the noisy cartoons that her kids were playing on a tablet seated at the next table.
When the food finally arrived, it was sloppily arranged, and the presentation was very ordinary. But we figured if the taste is good then (almost) all can be forgiven. But the food disappointed. It was not something you could compare with your naani or daadi's cookingheck, you could not even compare it to your least skilled auntie's cooking. It lacked authenticity of taste, and was bland.
The only reason I feel like giving it three stars is because the lady had a friendly and polite attitude and she tried to do her best. Unfortunately, her best was not enough to make us eat...
Read moreI would give zero stat if I could. Do not go to this restaurant. Do not order from this restaurant. Do not waste your time and money and do not endanger your health! I ordered from this restaurant two nights ago. I and my husband ate the food. My husband started vomiting and diarrhoea from the midnight and it continued up to now. I myself had abdominal pain, cramping, and even developed fever. Ambulance came and took me to the hospital. I was in the hospital the whole last night. They gave me several tests and found out it was due to food poisoning. I could not go to work today. Just resting in bed. After two days eating nothing, I feel a bit better. I visited them in person, they do not even use masks while preparing the food. All the plates and spoons are not properly cleaned. They have a small restaurant inside their kitchen, which the smells of the food do not even allow you to sit and eat. This is the most terrible restaurant I have ever seen. Restaurants should be responsible for customers health. They should care about their ingredients and the cooking process. I have all the documents about being hospitalized for one night for food poisoning. By the way, I ordered butter chicken and...
Read moreA small diner style restaurant that serves Indian cuisine. Food itself is 5/5 hands down. But service, cleanliness, wait times, are all mediocre at best.
There were some internet outtage in the area that day it seems. Without even trying his terminal, the owner requested that we pay cash. We had no cash on us, and we went in only cause he had a Visa/Master/AmEx sign at the store. He did not tell us about the terminal issue when we ordered, and when we showed our card, he "demanded" we run out to a bank to withdraw cash. When I offered to pay via "Just Eat", which the restaurant is a member of, he insisted we didn't cause the website takes a commission. So when we finally were able to leave, he said let's try the terminal. He started and cancelled the first transaction attempt, as if I wouldn't notice he was trying to convince me that the terminal was "down". Second attempt went through, and was literally, yes literally THE fastest Visa transaction I have ever witnessed... So I can't help but feel he was just trying to either dodge tax or avoid the Visa transaction fee, which the vendor is obligated to pay.
Despite all this though, the food was UHmazing. So we will suck it up and...
