Absolutely fantastic dim sum, easily the best I’ve had in Edmonton. What really surprised me is how much it reminded me of the hawker stalls in Singapore: no frills, humble setting, but seriously impressive food.
We ordered the char siu cheung fun, beef chow fun, char siu bao, xiao long bao, siu mai, and har gow and every single dish was spot-on. The rice rolls were smooth and delicate, filled with flavorful BBQ pork and served in a light soy sauce that didn’t overpower. The beef chow fun had that perfect wok hei smoky, savoury, and not greasy which is hard to find done properly.
The char siu bao were soft and fluffy with a generous amount of filling. The xiao long bao were juicy and well-wrapped, with a rich broth that didn’t leak out or collapse. The siu mai and har gow were both excellent too, plump, fresh, and balanced. You could taste the quality in every bite.
It’s a simple place with counter service, casual vibe, but that just makes it more authentic. The portions are generous, the pricing is very fair, and most importantly, the food speaks for itself. If you’re after true, well-made dim sum in Edmonton, Xing Wang Bakery is a hidden gem worth going out of your way for. I’ll...
Read moreWas craving rice rolls and decided to come here in the morning before grocery shopping. It's small restaurant with only a couple tables if you want to dine-in. Otherwise, you can buy their frozen dim sum items for back home too.
We got their shrimp rice roll and the beef rice roll which were a little less than $7 each. They serve it with sweet soy sauce on the side which is a must for these rolls. We noticed that the rice rolls were nice and chewy but the lack of meat didn't make it as enjoyable to eat. Portioning every bite was tough because you would get a lot of excess rice roll than meat. If you're looking for something filling then I would recommend ordering them though.
We also decided to try their xiao long bao, each order comes with 5 pieces. It came out piping hot so be careful when taking a bite not to burn yourself. The taste of the filling was pretty flavourful and the dough wrap wasn't too thick either. I would have preferred even more soup inside but nothing I can complain about.
Overall, I would come back to try other things on their menu whenever I'm craving for a couple...
Read moreThis is an amazing place to fill the Dim Sum void that many of us are experiencing during the Covid-19 pandemic.
It offers frozen dim-sum products that you can steam at home and has some fresh made-to-order items too.
Their rice noodle/ "cheung fun" is a must try!
Update Aug 2024:
Had to downgrade the review from 5 stars to 3. The wait at lunchtime for food will easily exceed 30 min. And when you finally do get your rice rolls, they are a mangled mess served in a plastic container.
The place is disorganized and inefficiently run now. And I hate to say I prefer the old hole and the wall location where the focus was good food, with good value served quickly.
At the grand opening at the new location the Snowy mountain bun was amazing. However, now it's a hit and miss on when they...
