I feel extremely appalled and disturbed by the incident that occurred at this coffee shop, where I experienced racist abuse. While my friend patiently waited for me, they were repeatedly urged to place an order. Despite having just finished a satisfying lunch and feeling too full to consume coffee, both of my friends decided to order their own coffe. However, to my surprise, an Indian woman and a man who appeared to be the manager approached me and insisted that I immediately order a cup of coffee. This was the first time in my life that I had encountered discrimination. It was truly disheartening to experience such discrimination.I expressed that my friend and I were collaboratively completing our academic assignments and intended to potentially order coffee later, however, the cafe staff persistently attempted to expel us.
This incident marked my first encounter with discrimination in my life. The staff member alleged that we were utilizing their cafe network, which is ironic as we were actually connected to UBC's network. Despite having visited numerous coffee shops before, I have never encountered such unreasonable service. Furthermore, she explicitly conveyed her disdain for individuals outside of Canada. I fail to comprehend why racism was involved in this situation? Is it possible for anyone, regardless of their occupation as a waiter or otherwise, to hold contempt towards others? The existence of such an appalling establishment in close proximity to the school leaves me feeling extremely unsafe as a student. Upon careful examination of reviews, it became evident that this store has had previous incidents related to racism. It is my hope that all patrons who visit this establishment remain vigilant. A standard cup of coffee can be obtained from various locations.
Moreover, considering it is part of a chain coffee shop franchise, the actions exhibited by this particular waiter are likely to significantly impact the...
Read moreI frequent a lot of chain store coffee shops because they're all over the city and I can count on them. The reliability factor is huge when you’re someone with an active lifestyle. Blenz is one of those chains I can count on.
I happened to be on a construction site near Wesbrook Village and there weren't many coffee options in the area…but thank god there was a Blenz. The coffee, wifi, food options, seating, and service were all good…as usual. The oatmeal cookies are a good choice and pack well if you're on the go.
The Wesbrook Village area is basically right beside the UBC campus so the main clientele at this coffee shop is students. There are bus stops nearby so the students are also waiting outside for a bus.
This Blenz Coffee is also right beside the amazing Pacific Spirit Park, so it's a very beautiful area. It was so nice that I came back when I wasn’t working just to visit the park and re-visit this Blenz.
The first time I came here I needed an extra bottle of water for work and they handed me a Blenz branded water, which I didn’t know they carried. I don’t usually drink water at a coffee shop but it’s still good to be at a coffee shop hat carries important items like bottled water. The water is good and the bottle is square, which helps it to pack better because it won’t shift around as much. I took a picture of the water bottle off the top of my construction site with the beautiful Pacific Spirit Park in the background.
I highly recommend a visit to the Wesbrook Village area. Visit the park and then stop at Blenz Coffee for some rest...
Read moreWe went to this cafe this afternoon and ordered an iced latte and dessert. We asked the waiter to put the syrup on the side. When we added the syrup to the iced latte and stirred it, we felt a little strange. When I picked up the cup with the syrup and smelled it, there was a strange smell, like the smell of dishwashing liquid. We only drank a little bit and didn't dare to drink it anymore, worried that there would be problems with our stomach. I took it to the staff and told them that this cup of iced latte with a strange taste would be returned to them, and also asked them to smell the cup of syrup. Then they took out a bag of white powdered sugar and said that he just added powdered sugar and water to make syrup, and there would be no problem? I suspected that he was not telling the truth, and the cup smelled of dishwashing liquid? We often drink iced lattes in cafes and seasons in the park, and Shaughnessy restaurant, all of which are very delicious. We have never tasted such a strange taste? We didn't drink it again and didn't hear them apologize or want to remedy the situation! Very disappointed that they ruined our happy...
