The Hitching Post — Restaurant in Fort St. John

Went in here with a couple friends, and I honestly don’t even know where to start. The food was barely edible—cold, bland, and honestly not worth what they’re charging. But honestly, the food wasn’t even the worst part.

The whole time we were there, the owner kept creeping around our table, standing uncomfortably close, pretending to clean things that didn’t need cleaning just so he could hang around. It was obvious. He stared way too long, made little comments that felt weird, and you could just tell he was sizing people up, especially the women.

At one point, I caught him looking me up and down while I was talking to my friend, and it made my skin crawl. I didn’t even feel safe going to the bathroom alone. It felt like he was watching every move we made the entire time. You could see other women there looking uncomfortable too—it definitely wasn’t just us.

It’s the kind of place that gives you that gut feeling that something’s not right. We ended up leaving early because it was just that uncomfortable. The staff were fine, but honestly, I feel bad for anyone who has to work there under someone like that.

Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, but especially not to women. There are way better places in town where you can actually relax without feeling like you’re constantly being watched...

Hands down the worst bar experience of my life. I decided to give this place a shot even though I’ve never liked it or heard anything good about it—and I regret every second of it. The owner clearly doesn’t give a damn about the customers, the service was beyond terrible, and the whole vibe of the place was just miserable.

We had a large group stop here last night. The atmosphere was fun, great music during the open mic night and one of our own even performed! The food was really good. Our server, Jessie, was absolutely incredible, probably one of the best servers I've ever had. She really made our night run smoothly. Even with such a large group, our orders were all perfect (even the beefbacks!) and never had to ask for a refill. ...
