barBURRITO — Restaurant in Fredericton

I love finding a good Mexican restaurant, not in Mexico and so far from even the Tex-Mex border you wonder how authentic it could be. When I saw the green salsa - the tomatillo stuff found mostly in the southwest, I knew I had to have some.

Right off the bat the obvious choices were rice, black beans and green salsa. Next I was torn — deep fried chicken or something healthier. Oh hell, go for the local fave (bang bang chicken). Everything else is just whether you’re complimenting the taste or drowning your sorrows. And I got the chip combo.

The burrito was so massive they should throw in a fork with the large. I got creative and used chips to help dig out the burrito. But one thing about the chips — they’re very salty. It’s like the person who cooked them salted them and then someone wasn’t sure and salted them again and that one person who likes some food with their salt, salted them again. They almost got a lower star for the salt attack but the chips were warm and that’s a good feature.

Back to eating — all in all I’d say this is a great place to try again. Next time I’m going for the jerk chicken and the stuff to cool...

Never order anything from their website. I ordered a Gluten Friendly Burrito online and paid with a credit card. A few minutes later I got a call from them advising me that they could not provide the order. I told them to go ahead and cancel the order. A couple of hours later I got a call and they asked me if I was going to pick up my order. I told them that I had canceled the order. They told me that I was going to have to call their corporate office and deal with them. I told them that this was not an acceptable solution and that I thought they should be look after fixing their mistake. I asked for contact information for the franchise holder and I was told that I was speaking to the franchise holder. I told him that I was not happy with the service. He said that he would contact corporate the next day and get back to me which he never did. I told him that if I did not hear back from him I would contact my bank to dispute the charge and I would post a negative review since they were obviously offering something on their website that they could not provide and would not refund my...

There was a bit of a line up when we showed up - not surprising for a store just opening. They worked through the line at a reasonable pace, and the burrito was worth the wait! The steak and rice are both well favoured and the topping selection, while perhaps a bit small covers all the basics and anything I would want on a burrito personally.

My only real complaint is the sound, as with many new resteraunts of its type it has poor sound management. With a full line of people trying to order its quite noisy and hard to hear (of course masks and covid plastics don't help with this - but they are what they are). Some sound dampening foam in the top corners of the area would do a lot to improve the situation.

I will check again next time we are in just incase I missed it (and there will certainly be a next time) but I don't believe the doors had assist buttons to open them, and with the double door system especially this can be awkward for folks with mobility aids. It seems common to stores in this particular strip mall, but could be an issue for some folks...
