Yassou Souvlaki & Donair — Restaurant in Fredericton

Went in for lunch today. The atmosphere is nice, clean set-up with lovely pics of Greece and the Mediterranean on the walls. I was really surprised with the dining room area as you cannot tell from the exterior how nice of a place this is to sit down and enjoy a meal (or maybe I just never looked close enough before).

Service was great, friendly crew. Willing to chat and answer questions and make you feel like a welcome guest. I was undecided on what to try so the boss suggested the combo plate and it was fantastic. The wait time was very reasonable given the care and effort that went into the meal. The souvlaki was tender and juicy, the traditional Greek salad with house Greek dressing was so good I got a bottle to go. The pita light, the donair meat was tasty, the tzatziki and garlic sauces were also spot on. So good actually that I purchased a container of the house tzatziki and the garlic sauce to go (a nice option they offer in addition to the Greek dressing being available to go). We were in Freddy today for an appointment. We live in Miramichi so we decided to have lunch somewhere that’s not available there. It was a great decision. We enjoyed our food so much. My husband had a donair I had the Greek potato plate and I also ordered a small Greek salad. Wow! What a great meal, we enjoyed it so much. I substituted chicken instead of donair meat. It all arrived freshly cooked, the donair wrap was so soft and fresh, the potatoes were nicely seasoned, piping hot and oh so crispy. The potato plate had tzatziki sauce covering the chicken with crumbled feta cheese, tomato, and green onions. We wanted to have a donair so I looked up the places with the best reviews. We ordered 2 oven baked donairs. I was waiting inside for them when they were ready. The counter person was cold and short - I wish I could have taken back the tip. More importantly, the donairs were a bit unusual as there seemed to be a salad on top of the meat. That was just different but not in a bad way. However, the idea that they were baked escaped me because the cheese was barely melted and the meat, so dry like it had been cooked and reheated and then reheated again.
