I visited this restaurant with my sister and a friend on Friday September 24th around 1:00-1:30pm. We were the only ones in the store and we still waited ten minutes before the waitress asked for our order. When she came, I asked if the chef could put cream cheese on a specific roll for me. She said she would ask. About 15 minutes later she comes back and asks what we want. I asked if she asked the chef and she said no and went back to ask him… Why did we wait 15 minutes!?
We all order a roll and a miso soup each. The rolls were good, kudos to the chef. However I’ve never been to a sushi restaurant where the miso soup is only half full and luke warm. The soup should be filled to the top. It’s extra water, don’t be so cheap.
When we finished eating, we waited ten minutes before going up to cash to pay. No one asked how the food was, no one checked in. So when we got to the cash, I noticed everyone who worked there eating in the back and they poked their heads up when we got to cash. But no one took the initiative to come up and collect payment from us. So I went over to where the could see me again and asked “do you want a payment or not?” Because honestly, if my friend didn’t have morals, we would have just left without making the payment because no one seemed to care to collect it. Again, we were the only ones in the store.
I would suggest teaching your staff good customer service skills and to not have everyone take a break at the same time. I understand Chinese eat together, my husband is Chinese, but as a business if you eat together, your customers are bound to be ignored and walk up and leave. Terrible service. I will...

Because it's up the hill, I decided to get delivery. I had the Volcano Roll, Chicken Teriyaki Hand Roll, Salmon (Sake) Sashimi, Shrimp Tempura, Miso Soup and Tuna Tataki.
The miso soup was standard and relatively large which is always nice. The shrimp tempura was great both fresh and reheated in an air fryer. The flavour of the shrimp really came through the light and crunchy batter. The chicken in the hand roll was a bit dry, but the flavour was on point. The Volcano Roll, which has a deep fried batter shell, was topped with a volcano sized amount of sauce which surprisingly didn't downgrade the texture of the coating. Very tasty. The Tuna Tataki was so thin, so delicate, so delicious.
Finally, their customer service was on point. While they forgot to include my Tuna Tataki with my order, they called me to tell me before the order arrived and they offered to have someone come down and deliver just that. They owned up to the mistake even before I knew there was one and they then fixed it. Great business.
I look forward to going there to dine in one day and trying some more of...
Read moreEDIT 2025: Sushi rice was bland and tasteless, as if it had no sushi vinegar/sugar in it, and fish was a bit warmer than room temperature (ick). On too of that, the music was WAY too loud and not really the vibe. LOUD pop music isn’t really what I want when I’m out for dinner, and doesn’t match the restaurant.
Very disappointed. It went from a quiet, sushi restaurant (that always had music) to uncomfortably loud music. I’m heartbroken my favourite restaurant is now uncomfortable to visit, and the food is no longer great.
ORIGINAL REVIEW PRE 2020 under different owners: (Originally a perfect 5 star review)
BEST SUSHI IN THE CITY. GLUTEN FREE MENU AVAILABLE! My boyfriend and I have a lot of experience eating food in Japan, and we can say that this place NAILS both of the essential parts of sushi: the rice is adiquately flavoured with the right ratio of vinegar/sigar and the fish is perfectly cut and seasoned.
The atmosphere is almost always SUPER quiet, and the chef is very accomodating -- EVEN for gluten free!
Even if you don't know what the food is, if it sounds...
