Not worth the price. I went last week because I saw the great reviews and I was close by. I was the only customer there... But let me tell you, there was still a lot of other people there. I can almost guarantee that it was the owner’s family literally spaced out around the restaurant, all casual and talking loudly to one another across the room. Like there was a the grandpa on his laptop on one end then the parent scolding his child on the other... Even though I was the only customer, I still didn’t manage to have a peaceful dinner. Ironic.
The lady with the child didn’t even apologize when her daughter was running around and I kept trying to navigate around her. Also my server, who I assume is part of the family, didn’t even check up on me at all. Yes she kept taking my plates away and filling my water but she never asked me how my food was and do things that a normal server should do!
The food itself was okay. Only the fish really stood out to me. Since the rest of the menu was expensive, I decided to just go for the buffet since it was only an additional few dollars. It was nice to try a variety but not worth coming back for.
And since I didn’t think the food nor the service nor the ambiance was worth it, I didn’t tip. And when my server noticed, she was snarky about how I didn’t tip. First of all, it’s none of your business. Second, I don’t believe the restaurant deserves it. Third, your snarky attitude completely validated as to why I didn’t tip.
Overall: okay food, needs better service and the owner needs to separate family...
Read moreThere seems to be a problem with the lack of restaurant culture in Canada. It seems that even the highly rated restaurants in Canada are actually not that great.
First of all the restaurant is dirty. It truly was like being in a Moroccan street market. The spoons were in random places at the buffet, the "clean" spoons were dirty, cups were dirty, tables were dirty. Getting a clean plate was a lottery. Not to mention, they were cutting cucumbers at the very entrance and not in the kitchen 😆😆😆 very unprofessional!
Service is like being served by your grandma. They bring stuff with dirty hands, and nobody clears the tables. It does not feel like a restaurant. It's like villagers trying to run a restaurant. They do not even serve the plates well. They just come with dirty hands and hand over the stuff to the guests without any manners or any protocol whatsoever.
Most importantly, the food...it is not that great. I have tried real Moroccan food, and it was better than this. The couscous was cold from another day, and I even saw the "waitress" breaking it up by hand for it to look fresh.
The only reason why this place is still open is because there is no other option, and people from Ottawa / Gatineau do not know better. Very messy and unorganized place. Not to mention it's overpriced... should be 23 dollars maximum for a...
Read moreI WOULD NOT RECOMMEND 'FATIMA' AS A GOOD RESTAURANT. After reading the reviews, we thought we'd give it a try. My husband and I went there for supper. THE REVIEWS ARE DECEPTIVE. This place won't last another year ! The food was merely ok. nothing to write home about. We had the Buffet- The food was not hot, it was lukewarm at best, there were three desserts, watermelon, date squares, and some kind of apple crumble. Nothing we ate was worth the amount of money our bill came to. We did not have any liquor or pop and still the bill was outrageous for the quality of food. The waitresses gave the impression that they were part of the family working there. There was this tension in the air among the people busting about the kitchen area and the small buffet area. The whole atmosphere seemed anxious and tense. It's as though the family members waiting on people were kind of arguing with one another in their Arabic language. The place has NO A/C and even on a cool summer evening, this very small restaurant was too hot inside, to enjoy being there. We got the impression the place was full of the owner's friends and family relatives, rather than regular customers. WE'LL...
