Check your bill before u go!!! They have a good breakfast and lunch options in a cool retro setting with outdoor space too. I really liked it until our last experience, which I would have forgave if handled correctly by the manager Sam. A group of us 4 had brunch all was nice - service was good! No complaints (my breakfast was cold but I enjoyed it). When we were done 2 friends came by and joined us. They had a different waitress and ordered. When the bill came they charged us as a group of 6 and added 20 percent to the bill. We are ok with that except they didn’t tell us they did that and we all tipped on top of the total amount which included tax and tip already. It’s funny bc one guy was from the USA so he asked how to add the percentage to the bill which she told him but she could have then mentioned oh don’t worry we included a twenty percent tip. Still I didn’t care bc I knew it was likey just a simple human mistake. Gave the benefit of the doubt. So when I called I expected they would apologize for the misunderstanding. She just mentioned thanks for letting me know and seemed annoyed. I asked about getting the difference back and she said they cant …but hello in the service industry they should offer to compensate you with at least a meal in equal value? Kinda mentioned to her (as she offered nothing - just a meh nothing I can do - I asked can I come in and get some food equal to the over charge and she not overly warmly told me I could, but could only ask for her to get anything if she’s there. I see this complaint on other reviewers it’s not good practice. Check ur bill first to ensure you are not double tipping. Anyways now sadly I can’t go back :( and the cant recommend I think this...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at The Mad Hen for breakfast, and it was nothing short of eggstraordinary! From the moment I stepped in, the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff set the tone for a delightful morning.
The menu boasts a variety of breakfast options that cater to every palate. I opted for their signature eggs Benedict, and it was a culinary masterpiece. The eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise sauce was rich and velvety, and the English muffin was just the right amount of crispy.
What truly sets The Mad Hen apart is their commitment to quality ingredients. Each dish is a testament to fresh, locally sourced produce, and you can taste the difference. The menu also caters to different dietary preferences, offering a range of options for vegetarians and health-conscious diners.
The Mad Hen's attention to detail extends beyond the plate. The presentation of the dishes is Instagram-worthy, making it a feast for the eyes as well. The cozy ambiance and stylish decor create a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely breakfast with friends or a quiet solo brunch.
Service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The staff's knowledge of the menu and their friendly demeanor added to the overall positive experience.
In conclusion, The Mad Hen is a gem for breakfast enthusiasts. Whether you're a local looking for your new go-to breakfast spot or a visitor seeking a memorable morning meal, The Mad Hen is a must-try. I left with a satisfied palate and a certainty that I'll be returning soon for another eggcellent...
Read moreExcited to grab a meal as was recommended to us. Sadly, service and food were both poor. Two coffees ordered and when stirring our coffee with spoon provided, noticed something chunky on the spoon. Motioned to waitress who decided it was old peanut butter on the spoon. “I”ll get you a new cup” she said but after waiting 10 minutes, watching her chat to other staff, answer the phone and take an order, take another tables order, she finally noticed us staring at her in hopes a cup of coffee would arrive. Food arrived and we had a breakfast and a lunch, burger.I asked for garlic aioli with my fries…I received it but questioned what was topped on my fries. Since I had dipped a few fries, I already had the raw garlic taste in my mouth, but was shocked when what I thought was Parmesan sprinkled on my fries, was actually a liberal sprinkling of raw garlic. I couldn’t eat the remainder as it was too overpowering. The waitress never checked on us but at the end, when she arrived to take the plates away I asked if this was how the fries were served? Her reply was oh, I thought that was weird when I brought it to you. No apology. I guess we had to just except the food, inedible and pay for it. Burger was fine, but unevenly cooked and had pink sections to the meat. Husband breakfast has fine. Definitely won’t...
