Colleague and I wanted a lunch item near to work. She suggested Kabob Spot. I enjoy flavour but am hesitant on deep spices. She, however, enjoys spice. The spicier, the better. I wasn't sure if we'd find a mediocre ground. Surprisingly, we absolutely did.
I ordered the chicken kabobs dish with rice (I chose the rice option with carrots and raisins) and a Greek salad. As I'm apprehensive of my digestive system's response to salad dressing, I asked for VERY light dressing on my salad. Our host and chef flashed his winning smile and said, "We serve our dressings on the side." 👌🏻 Score point number one. Plenty for those who love absolute coverage, light options for people such as myself.
He then asked for my sauce option for my chicken. I chose garlic and again tucked my fingers together in an "infinitesimally tiny amount, please" gesture. His eyes sparkled again as he politely let me know they serve their kabob sauce on the side as well, unless otherwise requested by their guest.
The rice, to start my review, was SO perfectly done! Every perfectly textured kernel was filled with flavour enhancement from the carrots and raisins and there was an abundance of it for a rice lover like me.
The chicken was grilled to perfection as well. Thoroughly cooked and yet still so tender, juicy, textured with grill marks and delightful dipped in the garlic, creamy, soft, not to overpowering and yet such an addition of flavour!
The dish was accompanied by a side of grilled red peppers and onions, another of my favourites! Again, my being a flavour and texture food lover without missing the flavour of the base food, I always note when grilled vegetables are under or over cooked. Our host knocked the onions and red peppers out of the park, too!
The salad was fresh, crispy, abundant and so delicious! It was plentiful enough to be a meal on its own, almost.
My colleague had the beef kabob with their house salad which was a cucumber, cilantro, lemon dressing type concoction. She is a tremendous foody herself and could not stop eating her salad, so enamoured she was with its freshness.
Her beef kabob had a dill sauce which she'd chosen to be served directly on top. She said it was just exceptional! She meant to leave a few bites for her fiance to sample tonight but I'd chuckle as I'd look over to see her digging in again and stating, "Maybe just ONE more bite!" 😂
There were also coated fries on the side. I can't eat fries and maintain a conducive work environment, lol, so I gave mine to her to take home.
We paid $17 + tax each but, truly, there was enough food in each parcel that two people could easily eat from it or you could have lunch and leftovers for your supper.
The environment was cool in a lovely way for a warm summer day. There were tall stool and tall table options for seating or counter options near the window or central traditional table options. The establishment itself is more of a cafeteria feel than a warm and cozy restaurant, but the host's demeanour and grace more than make up for in warmth what the cool tile floors may lack.
We would not hesitate to go...
Read moreI never go out of my way to leave reviews, unless the food/service was exceptionally good. Unfortunately this time, it was exceptionally bad. We had never been here before so we took a good look at the menu before deciding. After we had chosen we were met by a lady at the front counter with a short and judgy tone. We ordered the shawarma wrap and a chicken kebab platter. When she rudely asked what toppings we wanted, she made faces that showed clearly she was judging our selection. When we told her we had never been here and asked why our selection was not good she stated “I wouldn’t get the spicy mayo on that”. Once we ordered that wrap, we ordered the chicken platter, when I asked her about which sauce (garlic or dill) she stated “I would personally do the dill sauce. I would never do the the garlic sauce because I know how it’s made, but it is the more popular one”. Which makes me question, how are they making this sauce that even they wouldn’t eat it? This is some of the worst service I have ever experienced. Food was decent, experience was not. 1/5 probably farted on my food or...

The beef, chivken and lamb Kebabs are very Tender and actually have taste to them not blant. make sure you get the raisen rice. 18.5$ for a Beef Kebab Skewer and a Tandoori Chicken Kebab skewer with big pieces that you can cut with knife to eat, lots of rice as a bed, charbroiled Onions and Peppers and a whole Greek Side Salad filling a whole box. the only thing i would ask for is sauce NOT on top of everything but rather on the side as i dont like Garlic sauce with Beef but i like with chicken. Great Place. and it is Halal.
