Red Swan Pizza - Edmonton Whyte Ave — Restaurant in Greater Strathcona

Update: We've ordered a handful of times using the online service and checked all the boxes to get the 2 large 2-topper pizzas for $23. No issues there. Today when we tried to order, the internet service wouldn't process our order so no problem, we called it in. Asking for the EXACT same number of toppings, my husband went to pickup and was shocked by being charged almost double the original deal price. When we called them to ask if they double charged us, the person answering the phone vaguely explained it away that we had too many toppings. With the deal, an extra topping should only have come to an extra $3 or so (which we didn't ask for, and blegh to green peppers on a pizza), so we are feeling fairly ripped off. It's a shame that we have this bitter taste in our mouth, because the pizza is so good. :(

Old review: This place is by far the best vegetarian pizza option in the city (even better than Boss, IMO). Such cool options, like butter paneer, roasted potatoes and sesame-coated crust. The cheese was browned on top, just how we like it. We ordered from here 2 days in a row, it was so good. 20 minutes until it was ready to pick up, which is super speedy, and also so inexpensive if you get a combo deal. Very friendly staff. My ONLY complaint is that they don't offer stuffed crust, but with all the other options, that is not even an issue. That and maybe the fact it's in a sketchy stip mall. Go here!...

Thought I would check out Red Swan Pizza as they were having a deal - 8' 2 topping pizza for $3.95 - but it really wasn't my favorite.

So first off, $3.95 for a 8' pizza is an amazing deal. Where can you actually get a deal like that nowadays?

The pizza itself looked like a standard pizza, aside from the fact that Red Swan puts sesame seeds on their crust and this seems to be a staple of the company. I don't think I have ever had a pizza with sesame seeds on the crust before. I, personally, wasn't a fan of the sesame seeds but I have read some other reviews where others were a fan so this might be more of a personal preference.

I think my biggest turnoff of the pizza was how much cheese was one it. I got a mushroom and pepperoni pizza but all I could taste was cheese - pizza looked it like was made with a layer of cheese, toppings and then another layer of cheese. If you are big cheesy pizza human than this might be your jam but it just wasn't mine. I did, however, like that the Red Swan put a good amount of sauce on the pizza. I feel like there is nothing worse than a pizza that doesn't have enough sauce on it, leaving it dry and blah.

I don't think it hurts to give Red Swan a chance if they have the deal again, if you like pizza with a lot of cheese or if you just wanna try out the sesame crust but this just wasn't my thing, which is kind of...
