I’ll start with “I love this place!” We were on our way back from Niagara Falls and saw the sign on the highway and decided to stop because one of our party was getting hangry. Two of us were from Michigan and the other two visiting from Belgium. I worried that neither of them would find anything they would enjoy, but boy was I wrong.
It was clear from the atmosphere that this is a ‘locals’ pub. I’m into the diners, drive-ins and dives and while Rik’s can’t specifically be defined as one of those, it will hold a special place in my heart. The locals were rowdy but extremely friendly, chatting it up with me and my mom. The bartender seemed to know everyone in the place (with the exception of my party) and it was very busy but Lauren took great care of all of us on a Thursday evening.
Our Belgian family got the chicken Caesar wrap and the cabbage roll soup and they both LOVED it. I had the chicken sandwich with honey garlic sauce and it was incredible. They seriously need to bottle their sauces because I asked for some to go and they were more than willing to oblige. The cook also came out and chatted with us and was eager to hear that we all enjoyed supper.
To make a long story long, I’m tempted to find an Amtrak route that will drop me off across the street in Grimsby so I can visit again. It felt like home and almost like I was on the set of ‘Cheers’. If I could give Lauren, the cook (didn’t catch his name), and the restaurant ten or a hundred stars, I would. Needless to say, I will make every effort to come back again!...
Read moreI would not recommend this establishment to anyone. I recently moved to Beamsville and was excited to experience some of the local flavours while supporting local busineses at the same time, however, going to Rickochez was far from the kind of experience I was hoping for. We went in celebration of my friends birthday on June 24th, 2017. We arrived after having fabulous dinner and drinks just down the street at The Forty. When we arrived to Rickochez, our fun-spirited atmosphere as a group of girls was immediately squashed by the bartender. She was a young girl, claiming to be the owners daughter , who told us she was going to exercise her right to refuse serving us alcohol since some of our friends already had too much. Her body language, along with her tone and facial expressions were extremely demeaning - it was as if she was disgusted with us. It is disturbing to me that she didn't use techniques outlined in the Ontario smart serve training program to properly judge our intoxication levels. I was a server for 8 years and am now a respected professional in my community, and I will say that her lack of professionalism and application of the smart serve training program issued by the Ontario government left me feeling very disappointed. Im not sure what kind of customer your hoping for, but you definitely did not make us...
Read moreLived in Grimsby for 15 years and never knew this place existed. So glad friends recommended we stop in for a quick bite. Not exactly a family with young kids type of place (we did though and would again) but very easy going casual. The food was DELICIOUS!!! We ordered the highly recommended nachos which were enough to feed a group of four on their own. Kids ordered chicken fingers and fries. For $8 I expected the fingers to prob be a frozen meat slurry, instead all white meat with a very tasty breading. I ordered a Moscow mule which was perfect. Husband ordered a beer (selection was very large). The server was great but the chef who was back there on a busy Sat night by himself still found time to come over to check on everything, he was so humble and nice!! We will be back and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good food, friendly staff,...
