We usually go to Judge & Jester once in the blue moon, even though we’re locals, live 2 minutes away and dine out quite often. Every time we go back there, I’m reminded why we don’t go there more often in the first place. I’ve ordered Butter Chicken (the newest addition to their menu) and chicken wings.

Butter Chicken: Never again! Does not resemble Butter Chicken even remotely. Loaded with huge chunks of onions- twice as many onions as the chicken (tested like a curry-onion stew). It was served with grilled pita bread -the cheapest and the worst-tasting kind you can buy in the grocery store. Almost $17 bucks! Wouldn’t eat it again even if they paid ME twice as much. Chicken wings: Ordered 1lb, the plate came with 6(!!!) wings + 2 carrot & 2 celery sticks. Wings were S-M size at best – no way I would believe that it was 1lb (not even if you add the sauce and celery/carrots). Almost $12 , If my math serves me right, that’s pretty much $2 per wing?! Thievery! Taste was decent, I would rate it 3.5 out of 5, but definitely not as good as Teddy’s wings. No complaints about service – it was neither bad nor outstanding. Waitress was very nice.

I have nothing against the place, but it’s just not a good value for your dollar- even the pub-grab is overpriced (but at...

Service? Well, when we arrived no one was on the ball to seat us. We were waiting quite awhile before the young woman came from the back to take us to a table. We also waited a lengthy time for our food even though it wasn't busy...and we had to wait to get our bill. Our server was sweet but we were not impressed with service. The whole point of having a hostess is that she's up front to greet you when you come in and seat you. I'm not sure if she was doing tasks at the back but she seemed to be socializing instead of doing her job. Food. Without a doubt, worst pub fare I've ever had. I ordered a Reuben which is a deli classic. It's one of my go-to options. Worst Reuben I've ever had. The meat was dried out completely and crispy. Not in a pleasant way. It came with fries, which were extremely over-salted and cold. Super disappointed. He had fish and chips. You can't really screw up fish and chips?!? Other than he also felt his fries were cold and over-salted. The bill was seriously expensive. Atmosphere? We were happy to be seated in front of the nice tv to be watching the football game but it's not very esthetically pleasing in here. Would not recommend. In zero rush to return back.

I never mind paying for quality....there was no quality here. It was not...

The underwhelming food was a disappointment. The spinach dip was fairly good with the cheddar cheese melted into it. It needs more pita points than nacho chips to be worth the price though. I had the oven baked halibut. The halibut was not flaky and was drowning in the dijon mustard sauce. The almonds I felt were trying to compensate for the lack of flakiness in the Halibut piece itself and added little flavour. The goat cheese totally took away from the Halibut and completely overpowered it. The raisins on the halibut added a sweetness to that simple clashed with the cheese and roasted tomatoes. The rice on that plate was most likely Uncle Ben's 1 minute rice and the veggies were not "seasonal" as the menu advertised.

My fiance had the French Onion soup and Chicken Cesar Salad. The salad dressing was too thin and runny for a good salad. The chicken was burned and not cooked properly. The Onion soup had cheddar cheese on top which added unneeded saltiness to it. Otherwise the bread the used inside the soup was plain bread and the soup itself had some onion flavour but was otherwise totally bland and watery. The food needless to say was...

Was looking for a place between Niagara and Burlington for a lunch rendezvous. I had read reviews and looked over the menu for several places and was pleased that my lunch partner selected this place as it was my #1 choice. Now it probably deserves a higher rating but because the lunch menu was rather limited I did not get to try out what I had my eye on, the Peameal Melt. Only thing is it will have me coming back to try it out. Maybe that was the plan!! Anyways I had the halibut and chips and my lunch date had the fish tacos. Nothing fishy going on here but we were both very happy with the choices. The halibut was a solid piece of fish and not your typical pub fish where it's more batter than fish. No chance of that here. Same thing went for the Bajaj fish tacos. Salad with the tacos complimented with a good crunch. We both had iced tea to drink and had deep fried dill pickles to start. I almost forgot to take a picture of the food, but got the full lunch menu minus the alcohol. I would come back for sure if I was looking for a place in the area, for sure a solid pub, and a great little patio between the two buildings.

This is a Grimsby staple I am told. Went here with a group on recommendation form a local as we were looking for a pub style establishment. The atmosphere is pub style and we loved it. A distinct ciggy smoke smell was a bit much at first but honestly it did fade after some time AND it really added to the overall experience, which is a bit strange to say. I could do without it which is why I give it a bit lower score on the atmosphere side. Food wise this place is excellent. Pub style grub, with some nice additional dishes - something for everyone. I had the steak and Guinness pie and it was incredible. The crust was excellent. Portion size in my opinion was a BIT lacking but overall enjoyable. Everyone else enjoyed their food and the service was standard for a pub. Friendly waiter/waitresses who really have it down to an art - pub style service is great! Overall? It’s a great spot for a bite, or a brew. I would go here again!
