Hidden gem in Halifax!

The food was fantastic and the prices can’t be beat. We loved the simplicity of the menu and the old diner feeling. The location was not ideal, and we had to wait about 15-20 minutes in a line outside to be seated.

The only areas I could recommend for improvement would be:

Updating the menu and including listed children’s plates (we ordered sides for our little girl, which were not listed on the menu);

Expanding the footprint of the restaurant or seeking a new location. This spot is too small for the popularity: we felt very cramped in our tight booth because it is evident that they are trying to seat as many people as they can inside. There are freezers in the main sitting area used for food storage, so I also believe the kitchen is also too small for their needs; and

it seems their primary clientele is university students, so as a business it would be pragmatic to offer something to continue to draw that group in (a rebate, a coffee stamp system, or a secret menu item just for university students perhaps?)

All in all, we will be back again, but only if we have a lot of time to spare, and aren’t starving because...

I was pleased when my neighbour's suggested we go there for lunch as I had never dined there. First impression. We opened the door to enter and we were told to wait outside (apparently there is normally a sign stating this as it has limited seating), the owner is the one who told usvto wait outside. She was abrupt. Once a table became available we entered. I was craving a good old fashioned western sandwich. I enquired how it was to be prepared. I was informed. Ham green peppers onion and eggs. It arrived on a cheap commercial bread with two small slivers of red pepper, virtually no ham and the eggs were clearly just fried in a pan unscrambled. It was cold and inedible. I found out our server was the owner. Listen, I don't like to write bad reviews...I feel for restaurants. I have no issue paying for quality and I am a generous tipper. I didn't order anything else and the owner did not care enough to enquire as to why my sandwich was left after only one bite. Very disappointing experience. Don't be fooled by the lign up outside, it isn't because it is good, it's because it is a very small restaurant with limited seating. I won't...

I received an order from here through DoorDash and I was so disappointed by the presentation after opening my box. At first, the bag was sealed tightly to prevent the food from sliding, so I was expecting the great presentation that customers have talked about getting while dining in. Nope, the food was thrown around in the take-out container as if it were rushed and had no regard. I ordered eggs benedict with utensils and ketchup. I received neither and no napkin as well. I took a picture of my food and called the store thinking that I would get some kind of concern from the staff after mentioning how my food arrived and for the items I did not receive, I got an empty response from a girl who answered and stated that I needed to mention that I wanted ketchup in the order online. After telling her that I requested ketchup, I received a long empty silence. I then told her to have a good day and that I was submitting a review, she said OK and hung up:( I wanted to just mention that if you want to receive the full experience from this restaurant your best bet is to go in and not order through DoorDash. Your order will be rushed and thrown...

Love this place! Family friendly, Small little hole in the wall type place. A diner style type of breakfast. Usually a small lineup to get in, very centrally located, foods yummy and the price is great, and portions are decent. Definitely isn't anything fancy, but has been a staple in the neighbourhood for years and is well known to locals and many of the staff have been there for as long as I can remember. Inside definitely is a bit rundown and prob could use some updates, but that's part of its charm and also prob how they can afford to keep prices low. I do find their Vanilla milkshake has a great consistency, but lacks flavour/ is a bit bland. My son loved the Steak and eggs and I thoroughly enjoyed the Jack'd Breakfast poutine. I have also previously had their French Toast and Eggs Benedict which I also enjoy.
