Charger Gourmet Burgers & Poutine ( HALAL ) — Restaurant in Halifax

First time ordering the Charger burger (via Uber Eats), and, while I had initial reservations about the price, for food this good, I'd gladly pay it.

The Burger was very large, and perhaps for the first time ever, the bun didn't look like it was vomited out of a Dragons mouth. Cheers for that, seriously. The beef patties tasted fresh and delicious and boy oh boy is there a generous portion, there was a generous serving of BBQ sauce, where it didn't feel overpowering. The lettuce and tomato tasted perfectly fresh (I use this word a lot, but I really emphasize this).

The fries serving was a bit small compared to what I'm used to, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. Although, if I have to nitpick, there a bit under-seasoned. The whole delivery also doesn't come with any additional condiments like ketchup/salt/pepper, if thats relevant to anyone, unlike me.

The only question I had the whole time was simply this, "HOW DO I EAT YOU!", because, as I said, it's massive and its hard to take a bite off of it. Have tissues ready if you wanna take a big bite.

Went there the other day on lunch to get a pountine and mozzarella sticks. It was quite busy but my order was taken right away. I waited 30 minutes for them to finally tell me that their "poutine machine" was broken, but they could make me anything else I wanted, inckuding meals with fries. The server was very nice and accommodated me, apologized and gave me a cheesecake as compensation for my ongoing wait, but because of this i was almost late for lunch going back.

The food was ok, cheesecake was gross (chocolate Cadillac I think it was called). I paid 22.00 for my meal and threw half in the garbage. By the time I walked back, my fries were soggy. I gave 3 stars for the courtesy, but I will not be coming back. It was expensive for what I got. I dont understand what a poutine machine is, but I don't understand why I had to wait 30 minutes for them to tell me this.

It truly pains me to give such a low review, but the service here is so, so incredibly slow. It took nearly an hour for an order of two burgers the last two times I went. Love the fact that they offer vegetarian options, but waiting an hour is just too much. And you can't even order ahead online. Their website doesn't work, and they never pick up the phone. Uber eats/doordash? They're always waiting at the restaurant for orders.

Something also has to be said about the bugs at the location. I've seen it mentioned in a few other reviews, but the fruit flies and other insects are ridiculous. Their soda machine had to be closed once while we were eating in because of an ant infestation... Something to keep in mind...

Again the burgers are great. Meat and their veggie burgers. Fries could be improved as they're not anything too special. Unfortunate to take this one...
