Absolutely phenomenal BBQ. Easy contender for best in the city. I made the mistake of ordering a full rack of ribs. This is a mistake because mere mortals were not meant to have this much meat. Extremely tender, hot and fresh, beautiful flavors, moist but not a dripping mess. Easily 10/10 ribs. I opted for cornbread as my side since I knew I would be eating it later. My wife opted foe the three meat (chicken, brisket, and pulled pork). This too was a mistake as three meats and a side (Mac and cheese) offered up a mountain of protein that could not be beaten. 8/10. My MIL was the most reasonable and had a half rack. The other half of the tray was reserved fries, an ocean of salty potatoes. 10/10 no room for fries. Cornbread is real, genuine cornbread served with whipped honeybutter. So the food was out of this world, but how was the ordering process? Scan a QR from your table, make the order online, put in your table number and wait 10 minutes. I honestly think we had our food within 10 minutes, but say under 15 to be safe. You can also order at the counter. Prices are extremely reasonable considering the quantity and quality. $28 for a full rack of the best ribs I've had in recent years? Unbeatable. Fast, quality and quantity, reasonable prices. Only downside is the dinig room is a touch cramped and there are no wet wipes.

My friends and I were really looking forward to trying this BBQ joint but were sadly disappointed. 3 of us got meals and only 1 of us were mostly satisfied with what we ordered. The brisket was dry and crumbly - that's not the texture that brisket should be at all. The cornbread was very much the same - needed a drink to wash it down for sure. The mac and cheese tastes like literally macaroni mixed into melted cheese whiz (I wish I was exaggerating) And the BBQ baked beans were spicy which normally I'm ok with a little spice, but they were fairly spicy, only tasted of peppers and there was literally no indication that they would be spicy on the menu - I can imagine this would upset someone who doesn't like spice even more. I was also not able to pay with cash as they apparently did not have any cash in their til? We found that odd and inconvenient. However, The fries were delicious - fresh cut and crispy. Tater tots were very tasty too. Freshly fried and seasoned well, also came with a dip. And my friend said the ribs were amazing. I should also mention that we were there right at open which, is arguably the best time to get food from a restaurant. If you go to this place, just order the fries and ribs or tater tots.

My love and I stopped into Bonehead's BBQ for dinner today as it has been sitting, taunting me across the street from his apartment all week. Nice little place. Cute small-time family atmosphere. Max seating for the restaurant seems to be about 20. Prices are reasonable. I had the brisket, rib and sausage plate which came with a mountain of French fries (seem to be a staple here) and ordered Cole slaw and potatoe salad as a side. (Planning to take home for snacking later.) Cost was about $18CA/pp. The brisket was great, more moist than lean which is just the way I like it. Being from South Texas the sausage wasn't as hardy and spicy as I'm used to but still good and tasty in its own right. There were three sauces on the table; a hearty, a sweet and spicy and a mustard. I passed on the mustard but the other two were very tasty although I would consider neither to be spicy or hot. Again, that opinion is based on my South Texas taste buds. All in all a good little eatery that I won't hesitate to visit again when in Halifax.

Updated review, Originally my first order from here was a bad experience, however I ordered again. and the food was actually really good! The ribs are flavorful with very little fat you chew on, while staying soft to eat. You could literally eat them with a spoon if you wanted to. I don't care for the pork sandwich as much as I did, it's not bad nor is it Lick the bones best. The gravy still stands as my favourite thing from here. It's filled with flavor as it is created using the drippings from the smoker. Very delicious. The tator tots as a side are very scrumptious, better than their fries imo. Crispy exterior, fluffy interior, seasoned, etc. I've tried their fries a couple times and they do not compare to tots. I did not re-order the brisket though. would be 5 stars however my first experience with them is still in my mind.

TL;DR a much better experience with very well seasoned and flavoured food.

I left this old review up because

This review is 100% literal with no exaggeration. with $75 + delivery fees I bought ribs, brisket, sausage sandwich, and pulled pork poutine. The ribs where where literally hard to eat, I had literally trouble tearing the ribs apart from each other from how dry it was. The brisket had no juice, seasonings, or flavor, The sandwich was delicious, although very dry, making it hard to swallow.

The only good thing from my order was the poutine which might be the best in all of Halifax. I have ordered from basically every place that sells poutine in Halifax and this is in the top 2 of my favorite poutines. The gravy is phenomenal, the pulled pork (add on) was the best meat from my order, and the fries where good. TL;DR poutine is their...

I've been a huge fan of boneheads since my buddy introduced me and when the fairview location opened well lets just say that it was game on boys and girls. Unfortunately due to circumstances this location had closed and ill tell you hand to the rib gods this was the best ribs and sandwich place i have had the pleasure of eating at and ordering out. On mar.5/2014 my buddy and i were trying to decide where to eat and low an behold we decided boneheads on barrington, i ordered the wings as an app and of course top notch!! We both decided we would make it a rib night and we both ordered the half slab with dirty rice i had mac and cheese he had beans, I was prepared for the party in my mouth i was ready to enjoy when i took a bite of my rice RAW!!!! i said well that happens no biggie so i took a bite of mac an cheese BOMB!!! An then the ribs.... If there is one way to describe it i would have needed a chainsaw and a pitchfork to get into them i asked my buddy how his were as his plastic knife snapped of in his ribs as i was looking over. I proceeded to let the gentleman behind the counter know that my buddy and i had a problem with our ribs and that they were extremely tough the answer i got was " its our new kind of rib and so there always gonna be a little tough". WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!!! Anyway you folks get the jist of what i am saying i spent $33 on myself and enjoyed mac and cheese and wings you do the math. Oh an just so were clear i was a waiter for 15 years and from my knowledge of the industry never send a guest away disappointed well boneheads my barrington experience was an epic fail. I will not be...

Unbelievable food! Best BBQ in town!

My Dad has an eating disability, where he cannot swallow food/eat through his oral passageway, he has a tube called a G-tube that he must use to pump puréed food into his stomach for nutrition. This is a result of having throat cancer, and going through many rounds of radiation treatments on his neck. He is now cancer free, but he is left with this disability, that affects his life in many ways. Before he got sick, and even as myself and my brother got older, he looked forward to taking us out to eat for our birthdays. Since then, he has been a bit embarrassed to eat out, given the fact that his food must be puréed and he didn’t want to ask too much of restaurants we would eat at. Our visit to Boneheads last week was the first time that we have gone out to eat as a family since he was diagnosed with his eating disability around 4 years ago. The Chef at boneheads and the rest of the staff did not know his/our circumstances, or anything about his disability, but did not hesitate to do everything and anything in their power to accommodate my Dad. Myself and my girlfriend come to eat here for special occasions because the food is so dam good, but I did not expect the level of service and care they provided, without thinking twice about it. I cannot recommend Boneheads BBQ enough. Great food, great people. I will be coming back for years to...
