Went in on a Monday for lunch. Asked the server is dine in open. She said yes. Sat on one of the tables. She gave us the menu. I asked her if I need to show my vaccine and she was like okay! So we read the menus, seems like they have good amount of options. Ordered a plain dosa, paneer dosa and paneer 65. Paneer 65 came out in like 15 minutes. It was literally coated and fried and served with a sweet chutney. Not sure how that works and did not enjoy it at all. (Also, I had to ask the server if we would be getting some cutlery). Then came the dosa with sambhar and some yellow chutney. Plain dosa was super thick and sambhar was bland. Literally the worst I’ve ever had. Okay, then tried the yellow chutney which was not bad. The server never came to ask how the food was. Then I had to ask one of the cooks(who was out of the kitchen) to come and told him that I won’t be able to eat this dosa since it’s not edible. The cook said they would not be charging me for the dosa. Assuming it was a South Indian restaurant, we ordered dosa and it was just a disappointment. One of the pictures shows how much food we gave back. Anyway, I ordered a kerela chicken biryani to see if atleast that’s good. Paid the bill at the counter and left. Came home, heated the Biryani and had the raita first which was pretty delicious given how other food tastes from the restaurant. Tried the Biryani expecting it might be spicy. It was literally sweet. And the masala from it have a little spice for the after taste but still very disappointed. This is literally the worst dine in experience I’ve ever had in Canada and I do not go complaining( you can see my other reviews). But where it has to be said, it has to be said. WORST SERVICE EVERY. I’ve never seen a server so negligent and uninterested ever. Would never return.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING THERE: I had ordered masala dosa, little did I know I would be having burnt potato rubber dosa! I went there as I was really craving masala dosa and my favourite restaurant was already full, I thought of trying this restaurant. Firstly they brought the dosa for me, It was very very thick and chewy, my jaws started hurting by the end of the meal. Secondly, the potato they got with the dosa was cold, even cooler than room temperature as if they got this from the fridge. I called the waitress and told her the potato was super cold, she hesitated and said OK, um um um I will take that, she took that, and GUESS WHAT!! AFTER 5 MINS SHE BROUGHT BE BACK BURNT POTATO!! It is not her fault it is clearly the chef. I did not know till I ate half of the potato masala. Like shown in the photo I found those brown hard pieces in the potato. I literally felt like throwing up at that point. HAVE you ever heard of a restaurant serving you cold food and taking it back and serving the same food heated in a microwave? Even the Sambar was so thick with only visible pumpkin pieces, it was disgusting. That's that. Thirdly, my father and mother are both executive chefs, I know the tastes of almost every cuisine. I have tried every single Indian restaurant in Halifax and by far this is the worst experience I had. The restaurant has no source of music, no TV poor decor and poor staff. Horrible, horrible, I cannot explain. I have tried chicken pakoda, it seemed tasteless too, their mango lassi was weird as well. If you want to enjoy your meal with good atmosphere and fulfil your tummy with good food, DO NOT GO HERE. That's all.

India is best known for its spicy delicacies and to taste that authentic food, people travel to India. Well, not anymore as we have Masala Delight in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am a foodie and loves to explore delicacies from around the world esp Indian food. This was my 3rd visit to Masala delight in a span of 2 years and the taste remained the same wherein many restaurants changed chefs and their taste differ with every visit. Whether you want a veg delicacy, esp South Indian food like Masala Dosa or non vegetarian food like chicken or mutton biryani, your pallette will ask for more and more. We visited this place recently and ordered masala dosa as evening snacks. We waited for 15 mins and got to know that their dosa stone was taking longer to get hot. They requested for another 10 mins to wait and voila, we got the order placed. Not only this, they gave a complimentary dosa as they got late in serving us. On top of it, I wanted to tip them but they didn't take the tip, and requested us to visit again. Now this is called a true hospitality. I do recommend this place for anyone who wish to try an authentic Indian food and trust me, you will come here again and again. Only 1 negative thing was that they take alot of time to prepare but on a positive note, good food does need time to prepare from fresh and not serve the already cooked stuff. Well, my tip is pending and I ll be there again very soon.

Edited - 16th/April/2025

I am a regular customer so iv noticed changes happen in the last few years.

  1. QUALITY/QUANTITY/PRICE :

Food quality has improved significantly since the new chefs were hired . Kurma is my favourite .

Where the 1.5 point loss comes is the quantity/portion they give. It’s borderline almost not worth the price depending on what you order . Overall ; authentic tasting food but just know you will get lesser than what you expect . - 3.5/5

  1. CUSTOMER SUPPORT :

Customer Support is alright . They are friendly and never had a fight with them . They usually never make mistakes taking order and talk politely .

5/5

  1. UBER ORDERS :

Whenever I make an Uber order and request for utensils , and mark what I need in the notes section (special instructions) , I don’t always get them when delivered home. = 4/5

  1. PROACTIVENESS / RESPONSE TIME :

Sometimes the wait time to prepare an order is abysmal .

Particularly today (15th/April/2025) , it was unacceptable that they took so long. The lady (Ritu) and the uncle forgot my order (Mango Lassi) two times . It was 11:30 pm by the time we left. If this continues , at this rate , this score will hit rock bottom . - 2/5

  1. FOOD VARIETY :

Variety is better than most restaurants but still would prefer more like Idli, Upma, Pav Bhaji , Chaats, etc . which you get in Adda and other places. So this in-turn forces me to pick restaurants based on what I feel like eating for that day. That’s where the 1 point goes . Overall , still lots of options you choose from . 4/5

  1. ENVIRONMENT :

The environment could be improved . It’s hard to eat in a place where there is mice running around . I could also hear pigeon sounds behind the painting frame. - 3/5

Average :...
