I actually give here a 3.5 based on a visit in January 2019 before they had the fire, and a 2nd visit in October after they re-opened. Usually no problem to get parking in the small lot of the strip mall that this place is in. Friendly staff. Small inside with seating for maybe 20 people tops, so I imagine many people get take-out at meal times. But luckily both visits I arrived just before noon, so was able to get a table. Chalk board menu at the cash register where you order and pay in advance and they give you a number to bring to your table. Licensed with some local beers as well as cans of your basic domestics. Lots of natural light, casual, cute vibe overall. My first visit, I tried the daily special at the time of some kind of Thai chicken sandwich which I remember enjoying a lot, despite it being quite big and I couldn't finish half my fries. The 2nd visit I got their McChkn ($12 fried chkn, McChkn sauce, iceburg, onions) which I found decent but not sure I'd get again. Found the chicken itself may have been slightly overcooked as it was hard to chew, the sauce wasn't as distinct or flavorable as it could have been, and it was pretty messy to eat. The pros, it was also huge, and still overall good for someone who just likes that sort of thing. The side of potato salad was served in a stainless steel tin, heavy on the dill, large potato chunks, and not bad. Again, just a personal preference of mine to have my potato salad a bit mushier, not as harsh flavored). My friend really enjoyed his Hot Chkn ($10 pulled chkn, green beans, cheeze curds, gravy). It was funny that I hadn't been paying attention to what he ordered and at the table said "oh look, yours has cheese curds" to which he replied "no, that's pieces of chicken".. so I tasted one, and it was the cheese curds, which he didn't even notice were on the sandwich at all. But he liked it a lot overall with the large portion of well done fries. We each had a beer to make the meal incredibly filling, on top of splitting one of their big cookies for dessert, which was good. I definitely will be back, but think next I will try the tacos, and...
Read moreFirst of all, this is gourmet chicken, but more in a gourmet diner sort of way. The food is great, but perhaps not quite at a level of some of the trendier gastropubs popping up everywhere. That being said, they've got heart and the meals are tasty. The side of fries with my hot chicken sandwich was ENORMOUS. My lunch time pal opined that this is what he figures Swiss Chalet would have been like back in the 80s... wholesome, delicious chicken dishes not pretending to be any fancier than they need to be.
As at least one other reviewer noted below, the chairs there are horrendous! It's kind of funny - you don't think chairs would make that big of a difference but they kind of force you to lean forward... it's hard to explain. Anyway, that's easily remedied and the food is worth checking out.
This is what I would consider a quintessential lunch spot or maybe a good evening-time takeout if you want diner food. It's also worth noting that there is no...
Read moreI don't even know how to start this review! This joint was recommended by a co-worker. With my family we decided to try the family combo! It's was not a disappointment, it was a pleasant surprise. The Chicken was seasoned well beyond expectations. Brussels Sprouts are a must-try. Whoever came up with this version of Crispy BS(Brussels Sprouts) is a GENIUS. HE/SHE should be kissed on his/her brains. Macaroni was great. The star of the combo was the ROASTED POTATOES!!! I MEAN 🌟 ⭐️ 🌠 💫. The Fries were okay, crispy enough for the early part of the meal, not a big fan of fries with skin on. That's just me. But the seasoning on it was perfect, just not enough to overcome my dislike of skin-fries. Service was good enough for a five star review. Going back to try the sandwiches soon! For anyone on the fence about trying tis place, JUST GO. If you're not dazzled by the service, I'm certain the food will go you back in! Overall, great spot...
