I feel like I went to a completely different restaurant than the one described in other reviews here. I'll start with the positive, the potato wedges were excellent. The end. The service was notably bad, the server was very confused when I asked if they had English Breakfast or Earl Grey amongst the (unlisted) tea options...the server just kept saying "Huh, I don't know.". When I got my (identity unknown) black tea, I had to keep asking for sugar and milk, which came maybe 10 minutes after my second ask, and after my husband had already finished his coffee. Our food took a while to come out, not the longest I've ever waited, granted, but kind of odd as we were the only customers in there for the entire ~ 50 minutes we were at the restaurant (with 4 staff members). My husband's biscuit in his eggs benny was definitely stale. The wedges though, very tasty. And that was the end of the service; no second round of coffee, no "How are you enjoying your meal?", no "Can I get you anything else?". It was a strange breakfast experience for sure. And finally, my husband went to use the bathroom but came running back out and said it looked like Passchendaele in there. The wedges were good, but not good enough to...
Read moreMiel et Beurre Breakfast Cafe was more than just a meal; it was an embodiment of the warm and welcoming spirit I encountered throughout Halifax. From the moment we stepped inside, the 'homemade' feel of the cafe was palpable, and the exceptional service provided by Ruth made us feel instantly at ease. My Waffles and Berries were extraordinarily delicious, and my sister raved about her Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich. What truly stood out, however, was the genuine kindness and openness we experienced. The unique gesture of sharing their recipe books with patrons was incredibly generous. Furthermore, an unexpected and heartwarming interaction with a fellow diner, who expressed such genuine appreciation and welcome to Halifax, truly exemplified the friendly nature of Haligonians. Miel et Beurre wasn't just a place to eat; it was an experience that touched the heart and perfectly reflected the loving embrace of the people of Halifax. If you are visiting Halifax, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Miel et Beurre. Prepare to be greeted with warmth, enjoy wonderfully delicious food, and create a memory you won't soon forget – you absolutely will...
Read moreThe meal was nothing like what the description said. Took awhile to get the food, which is usually not a problem. Assuming with the long wait, the quality would not disappoint. We were wrong.
Problems with our food;
Potatoes Wedges seemed to be frozen, something that you’d get at a meals to go in a grocery store. Salad was nothing special. Again, looks like something you could easily pickup at a grocery store. Biscuit Breakfast sandwich as dry as flavourless. Couldn’t taste the small about of overcooked bacon. Seemed to be missing ingredients (didn’t taste any honey or notice cheese). Egg was very overcooked and had a faint fishy taste. Croissant breakfast sandwich as basically just scrambled eggs (and not very warm). Appeared to be missing some major ingredients - no bacon, avocado, or chives. Waiter never asked us how things were (but to be honest, we probably just be polite and say everything was fine 😂).
The only positive thing was that my partner and I had a few laughs about how terrible...
