Master M Restaurant offers a malatang-style dining experience where you select your own ingredients from a buffet, which are then weighed and cooked in a soup base of your choice. They offer several soup bases and a wide variety of fresh vegetables and proteins to customize your bowl.
The food was tasty, and both soup bases we tried—spicy pork and spicy beef—were full of flavor, not overly spicy, and absolutely delicious. The buffet ingredients appeared fresh and well-maintained, which was reassuring. Both of our bowls were weighed around $14 before tax and I think that is a great price when you get to choose exactly what you prefer in your bowl.
The interior of the restaurant is very sterilized and white. It felt more like a spa clinic than a restaurant. The service was extremely limited, there was literally 0 conversation with the one brother that was working. But I'm sure he is a nice guy if the language barrier didn't exist.
Overall, the food was good and fairly cheap to get exactly what you want in your noodle bowl. If you're looking for a no-frills, customizable malatang experience, Master M is worth a visit. Maybe takeout rather than dine in if you care...

The group of workers were staring demeaningly at me and laughing, there was a misunderstanding on both our sides but I apologized, they just got defensive and rude. Absolute worst customer experience ever don’t come here unless you want to deal with workers who are immature and full...
Read moreOh my god!! I have always loved Mala tang..but not after I ordered from this! First of all, the portion is too small that even a chicken would not feel full..I have no idea when I select 1 for quail eggs, they would only give me exactly one quail egg for the whole dish? I also chose potatoes, now all I’m seeing is potatoes in the whole container. What? I paid $27 for potatoes..please..On top of that, potatoes are literally overcooked, so now it looks like mashed potato Mala tang..never ever ordering from this again! Learned a lesson or two though, ‘always google the restaurant first...
