Disappointing Experience with Upselling at Gwalia
I recently dined at Gwalia and, while my experience started off well, it took a surprising turn. I ordered the Kachori chaat, which I found to be just okay, but I appreciated the quick service.
However, what happened next left me quite disappointed. I wanted to try one of their sweets, so I asked the server to pack two pieces for me, based on the labelled price per pound. Initially, the server agreed to sell the sweets this way, but then abruptly changed his mind, stating they don’t sell individual pieces. I clarified that I wasn’t asking for individual pieces but was happy to pay whatever the cost came to when weighed. Despite this, the server insisted that I needed to buy at least 1/2 pound, which I felt was unnecessary as I only wanted a small amount for myself.
What was most frustrating was the upselling attempt, despite my clear request. There was no signage indicating a minimum purchase requirement, which made the situation all the more confusing and disappointing. Read moreWe had an incredible dining experience at this Indian restaurant! From start to finish, everything was perfect.
For starters, we ordered momos, Schezwan noodles, Hakka noodles, gravy Manchurian, mango lassi, masala tea, and shikanji. Every dish was packed with flavor, served fresh, and piping hot. The momos were soft and well-seasoned, while the noodles had the perfect balance of spice and texture. The drinks were refreshing and authentic — the mango lassi was rich and creamy, and the masala tea had the perfect kick of spices.
For the main course, we enjoyed rawa onion dosa, paneer lababdar, sweet white gravy malai kofta, dal makhni, butter naan, and roti. Each dish was absolutely delicious! The dosa was crisp and flavorful, the paneer lababdar had a rich, creamy texture, and the malai kofta was wonderfully indulgent with its sweet, white gravy. The dal makhni was rich and comforting, and the naan and roti were soft yet perfectly baked.
On top of the amazing food, the service was fantastic. The staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured everything was served fresh and hot.
All in all, this is hands down one of the best Indian restaurants we’ve ever visited. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic flavors and...
