Harry's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Hamilton

So i tried out this place by the suggestion of my father and i am very happy that i did. Me and my fiance went and he had the haddock and chips and i had the calms and chips. He loved his meal the fish has a light crispy batter its not thick or mushy like some other fish and chips you can get. Their fries are thick cut however i found them to be a bit soft i like mine to be a bit crispier. Also my clams left this aftertaste in my mouth that overpowered everything i think their oil needed to be changed ! Their Coleslaw had alot of good reviews and i tried it, it definitely has more flavour than other coleslaw's i have had but again had an odd almost metalic after taste. The service however was very good the one waitress was very personable while talking to another couple. She checked in on us to make sure our food was good. And the portions are fair contrary to other reviews! And although the cups they give you are on the smaller side they give you the can and you pour yourself as opposed to fountain drinks They also have a One order of Alaskan & Chips for $4.99 on Tuesdays and Thursdays ! I will definitely be back for their special !

My friends & I travel SW Ontario doing outdoor stuff & started a quest to find the best Fish n Chips. The good reviews led us here. We were greeted by a very pleasant Asian woman that I had a hard time understanding. It looked to be family run. I asked where Harry was and she said he past away last year and they are the new management. It was Wed so we ordered the Halibut and Chips special. We got two pieces of fish not much bigger than the Captain High Liner fillets. The portion looked even smaller because of the tiny oval plates they are serve it on. They're so small that trying to cut your fish pushes your fries off the plate. I was surprised we didn't get coleslaw with our meal?

One of my peeves are old Ketchup bottles. The labels were worn off so the bottles are being refilled. There was a small kid I assumed was their son hanging around which didn't bother me... but when I went to pay I saw the little guy playing with all the cutlery in the tubs. I didn't take comfort now knowing my fork and knife were handled by grubby kids hands.

On the plus side the fish was tasty but the value is not there giving me no...

Harry's has very POOR customer service. We were hoping to make Harry's our Friday night diner but they DISAPPOINTED us. 1st week - We ordered 2 servings of fish and chips at the counter and even though it was a pick up order my wife always leaves a tip, $5 on a $20 order (25% tip). When the fish was cooked she asked for an extra tartar sauce. The server said "That will be an extra 25 cents!" 2nd Friday - We repeated the exercise and this time she only gave a $3.00 tip (15%) and again asked for an extra tartar sause and the lady said "That will be 25 cents!" 3rd Friday - We did the same and ordered 2 fish and chip meals and the tip was reduced to $1.00 for the pickup order. Again she asked for 1 extra tartar sauce and the lady said "That will be 25 cents." Each of the 3 times my wife answered "In that case forget it" to the extra 25 cents. AS A RESULT, WE DON'T GO TO HARRY's ANYMORE. Instead we cook Janes Fish and Chips from Costco and bake it, no deep frying. It is 1/5 the price and it TASTES FANTASTIC. We don't have the INDIGESTION from Harry's overused oil they fry...
