My husband and I went for a long overdue date night at Kenzo last night. When we walked in we were warmly welcomed and seated right away. Within 5 mins we had our drinks and had given our order. My husband orderd the king shoyu ramen and I myself ordered the King of King Ramen. I asked for mine to have no spice in it as I would like to add my own so if they could put some on the side that be great. It took a while for my server to understand what I was asking but I was confident she understood after a couple mins of explaining. Our food came within 10 mins (which was great as I was so hungry after working a long day). When my husband looked at mine he said it looked like they put the spicy in anyways, I tired it and sure enough it was way to spicy for me (which is why I asked for it on the side). I then explained to our server that it's to spicy and that I asked her for no spice in my soup but rather on the side. She looked at my puzzled and pointed to a tiny dish on my try that had a hot spicy on it. I explained again that I didn't want it in my soup at all. She then continued to argue with my for a couple mins (while everyone watched) telling my I ordered wrong saying I need to say ".0" spice if I don't want it hot cause it's a spicy soup. I then again told her I didn't want any spice and she took it away to make a new one. While o was waiting I tried my husbands and it was so tasty! I got my new one about 5 mins later and it was what I asked for in the beginning and it was very tasty.
5 stars for taste 2 stars to our server who was kinda rude and embarrassed me in front of everyone. 5 stars for how fast we were served
Over all it was pretty good minus an arguing server.
Might be a good idea to hire staff who speak...
Read moreThis is the spot! Id give 1000/5 stars. I frequently go with my boyfriend, the price is amazing and the food leaves me full and feeling like money well spent as its affordable too which is rare these days because it hits the spot with flavour!!! The atmosphere is chill and staff is friendly and will recognize you when you return. But the food is AMAZING lastnight after a apptizer ay Moxies I got the bill and came here because it just wasnt good and overpriced... and not as good as Kenzos with amazing flavour.
MEALS I REALLY RECCOMEND: Tongkotsu Ramen, Spicy Charsu Ramen (careful with the spice levels unless u love heat/burning a level 1 is 3X spicier then redhot its very spicy they are impressed if you get level 2 and say that they could never... i couldnt but my bf loves it) For non ramen dishes I love the BBQ Eel meal (its called Unagidon) and the Charsudon meal which is porkbelly its amazing and comes with a small Miso soup. If you like stir fry there is Yakisoba it comes HOT on hot plate its delicious noodle dish and slightly sweet and savoury. The menu describes in english the dishes and breaks down how to pronounce it in english too.
For appitizers honestly anything !!! I love the charsu, takoyaki, and my boyfriend always gets chicken Onigiri because they are under 6 dollars with every meal.
Cant go wrong here! You will not regret. Very few places I love like this spot and im a hard critic. 2 dishes ( a large Ramen with lots of charsu, egg, veggies and spice and a Pork belly dinner was 45$ with tip and we...
Read moreWhile I truly enjoyed the Ramen from Kenzo Hamilton, I feel there's still room for improvement, especially when it comes to consistency. More on that later.
We ordered via delivery (Spicy Charsu Ramen) and not only did it arrive fairly quickly, the packaging was brilliant. The dry ingredients were packaged separately from the broth, which made assembly customizable. By this I mean, it was easy to reheat the broth on it's own (if you wanted to) before you added the other ingredients to the mix.
The noodles were of good quality, so too the pork, beansprouts etc which were part of the meal. The ability to tailor your heat level of the broth (when ordering) is another great option.
As far as portions is concerned, it was very filling and to be honest, you get a lot of that delicious sliced pork (much more than other Ramen restaurants). Just wish they included an ENTIRE egg - which chicken lays 1/2 an egg? (yea the egg is tasty).
The consistency part I mentioned above stems from the amount of broth they dish out. We got 2 orders and while mine was swimming in broth, the other was like a desert with a few shrubs in an oasis. And while not a consistency thing, I find that addons are too expensive - ridiculous what they charge for corn and an additional 1/2 egg.
Filling and from experience we know it heats well the...
