review date: april 17, 2021 photos added: september 18, 2021, november 26, 2021 the caribbean-canadian restaurant (CCR) is run by a lady named sandra with her helpers. i've been purchasing their food on an ongoing basis for 6 years. CCR on the mountain, and famous recipe downtown, are the heavyweight champions of the city when it comes to caribbean food.šŸ’Æ -fantastic restaurant located at concession and East 21st near upper wentworth. paid parking available on concession street and paid/free spots on the side streets. -my personal favorite items are the chicken/beef curri rotis, chow meins and fried rices. patties are excellent, they'll give you that island feeling. and on fridays/saturdays only they feature doubles, while supplies last. CCR's menu imo is the most versatile in the city for caribbean food. you can pick roti, stew, rice or chow mein items, patties and doubles and NOT go wrong. -cost is very fair for what they give you. the portions are huge and go very far. -food is prepared fresh everyday from scratch, on days that CCR is open. this sounds like common sense, but understand some other caribbean places use frozen food. -my advice is phone in before going in, so that you can verify that they have what you want, and to save time from waiting on location. the other reason to call 1st is that roti and curry especially, are labor-intensive items to make...so your best chance to get it is ordering a few hours b4 closing. -one star gets knocked off bcuz they may not answer the phone when they are very busy. in that case you're going to have to make your way to the restaurant. -congratulations sandra on all your hard work with the store, and wishing you all the best going forward. bottom line: i will continue to support CCR and would recommend such to anyone else interested in enjoying good quality caribbean food. 😁

10/10 Give this place a second chance good and flavours are just like Sandra’s. I am a long time regular supporter of Sandra’s. Since the change in ownership we haven’t been back, until recently when I said I would give it a second chance regardless of the reviews. I was surprised that the jerk chicken dinner was pretty much the same, other than the chicken being a little dry, the rice having a little less seasoning than before, and the coleslaw being less creamy. All the flavours were there and the portion sizes are still the same. Today I ordered our go to Jerk Chicken and Oxtail dinner which is my absolute favourite dish. Everything was hot, fresh, flavourful, the chicken was moist, the oxtail tender with all of Sandra’s distinct flavours. I would say to anyone who is having second thoughts or tried it early on during the changeover in ownership, give this place and Lyn a second shot. As a former weekly customer, I will definitely be back once again! Sorry I didn’t get a picture of the jerk chicken as my wife ate some before I could capture a picture.

Couldn't resist the delicious smell of Caribbean food when we attended Sidewalk Sounds on Concession. There is a small eating area and most patrons were waiting on take out. Order at the counter as you walk in. Be warned! The portions are massive. And so delicious. We ordered a chicken curry roti and an order of curry chickpeas on rice. We got 6 meals out of 2 dishes!!! The chicken curry had chunks of chicken and potatoes in curry sauce that had a mild heat, all wrapped in a roti. Would definitely order this again. The curry chickpeas in rice was a great vegetarian dish, loved the flavour of the potatoes, I think they made the dish. Great place to stop in and bring dinner home. We waited about 20-25 minutes for our order. Will definitely return to try other dishes.

April 8th 2022. Will REPORT the owner to BUSINESS BUREAU and many others should do so as well. The woman who is the owner of this restaurant have been Rude over the phone in past and today she was very Rude again talking down to me. I called and politely ask her to place a pick up order for 2 dhal roti and 2 paratha roti. She then proceeded into saying well you should call the day before I told her my order is for pick up at 4.30pm and I called at 12ish noon hour. She then said will will try an see If she can make the 2 paratha roti as it is VERY INCONVENIENT FOR HER. I kept saying ok. She said it's more prep work for her to make a roti dough for 2 roti. That it is VERY INCONVENIENT and it more work. I said ok, she said to called back at 1.30pm to see if they will make the 2 paratha roti for me. I then ask will you pick up the phone? She then said "WELL IF I AM BUSY I DON'T KNOW" So I ask how to know if I will get the roti for 4.30pm? She then "SAID I AM HOLDING HER BACK ON THE PHONE WITH A RUDE ATTITUDE" I told her SHE TREATS HER CUSTOMERS VERY POORLY (SHE WAS TALKING RUDE AND DOWN TO ME). Just because a food business have good tasting food. IT DOES NOT MEAN THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO SPEAK RUDELY TO HER CUSTOMERS ON A PHONE CALL FOR NO REASON. I Told her on the phone I am going to report you how you treat your customers. "SHE SAID GO RIGHT AHEAD WITH A SHOWOFF ATTITUDE. This is not the first or last time the owner have done this type of attitude on how she chooses to talk to her customer. However this is my first time I am filing a complaint and WILL REPORT TO...

I opted to try the Roti as recommended by a friend and let me tell you, the roti itself is absolutely divine - it's soft, with just the right amount of chewiness to it. The curry filling is bursting with flavor and spices, and it's clear that they take great care in preparing their recipe. The blend of potatoes, chickpeas, and tender chicken makes for a mouthwatering combination that will leave you wanting more. And if you can handle it, please get the hot sauce. The acidity paired with a floral burst of Scotch-Bonnets really completes to dish by cutting through this rich and decadent roti.

What really sets this family-owned business apart is the sense of community and tradition that they bring to their food. You can tell that their recipes have been passed down with care, and that they take great pride in keeping those traditions alive. It's a truly special experience to be able to enjoy such delicious food while also feeling like you're part of the family.

Overall, I can't recommend Lyn's Caribbean Canadian Restaurant enough. Whether you're a longtime fan of Caribbean cuisine or just looking to try something new, you won't be disappointed. It's the perfect blend of flavors and hospitality, and I guarantee that you'll leave with a smile on your face and a...
