Mike's Submarines — Restaurant in Hamilton

My favourite sub shop ever, corner of Upper Ottawa and Fennell in Hamilton. I've been going for almost 30 years and I always get the same thing...a corned beef sub, extra cheese and mustard with a pickle and I am never disappointed ... I don't think there is anywhere else I go that I can honestly say that or anywhere that I have been a customer that long. They watched my son grow up and just recently met his children, my twin grandbabies...the next generation of Mike Sub customers! Thank you for being you in a world of artisan foods and overpricing while portions get smaller. The size of my sub has not changed, only my appetite (I now get two meals from one sub lol) and I am not paying a whole lot more now than I was back then. And it smells like a sub shop!! You know that smell...you don't get that at those franchised sub shops next door to...

So my husband and I always went to Mike's Subs on Ottawa Street when we lived down the mountain close to Ottawa street the son always made the best subs ever so when we moved up the mountain we decided to start going to Mike's Subs on Fennel and Upper Ottawa but since mom retired from this location or so we've been told, the food quality has really changed the buns are no longer soft they are hard the lettuce on our subs last night tasted like refrigerator and it was a bit brownish this is the second time in a short while this has happened and for us once ok maybe it was a bad day but now twice no won't go back we always pay like 30-40 dollars on subs last night we only spent 21 dollars because of what happened the last time we wanted to see what they were like, so disappointing now...

I went into this location 2023-06-02 and the service was not good. I walked up to place my order and I greeted the lady who going to make my sandwich. I said hello with a smile and she responded go on with a miserable look on her face. She just serviced a lady before me and smiled and laughed. Even the person after me got different energy. I don’t like to assume the reasons why I got a reaction like I did but I know I will never be back to this location again. I couldn’t even enjoy my sandwich. I refuse to spend my money in places where people have an issue with me for no reason. I will stick to the Mike’s...
