Spicy Palace — Restaurant in Hamilton

I am so glad I tried this place! I was looking for hotpot in Hamilton and I've found my go-to place. The service was amazing! They were so helpful and attentive as well as friendly. I've been to other hotpot places and haven't had service anywhere near as good. The atmosphere was authentic, just like the hotpot restaurant pictures on the wall from the hometown of the women who worked there (we asked!). It is AYCE, not sure what the other reviewer was saying there...the sauce is an extra 1.99 per person, but you can share one or two sauces among everyone, and it is a fair price. The all you can drink option is an extra $1 or something as well, but again, unlimited pop or ice tea or whatever, it's fair. The total cost for one person with sauce and drink and tax etc was $44.95, which is on par with many other AYCE Asian restaurants. The spicy broth was amazing, there is tons of selection for food to add to the broth. You can't go wrong. Other reviewer who was upset about cooking their own food....do you know what hotpot is? The place is nice looking and we had fun and all but the service needs to step up their communication. When we got there we asked if it was okay if we stayed past our 12am booking for a birthday party if we wanted to and they said it was okay. At 11:57 pm i asked them to extend it until one and they said theres another group coming at 12. We were not informed of this at all, or told to pack up at any point, they should give a half hour notice if anything, so you can clean up and say good bye. Instead, while we were having a great time, we had to kick 20 people out with barely a chance to say bye and clean the place up in 2 minutes. There obviously was no group coming at 12 either, or else they would have made us leave earlier so they can clean, and nobody from that group was there yet as they were “running late”. The workers just wanted to go home ASAP instead. The drinks are also over priced as well. The karaoke machine just runs on youtube which is connected to all the rooms so it would freeze in the middle of half the songs saying somebody else is using...

Never again. First of all, the food is not worth the price at any price. Boiling my meat in a liquid I can't even drink, pretty much straight oil. Awful experience. So expensive, extremely disappointed. Price point: all you can eat, options were so limited and bland, terrible texture and flavor. Even though it's all you can eat, they charge you for the soup in addition to the food options, then they tell you the sauce station is all you can eat, but they charge you for that too not telling you before hand. All you can eat my a$$. Service was terrible, got our order wrong twice and they don't communicate well. We had to ask for a beer 4 times then ended up having to get up and get it ourselves. No napkins. (The servers were kids though so I won't go too hard on the service-but still). All in all, me and my husband won't be coming back, and are very discouraged to try...
