Came here for breakfast this afternoon with my partner and everything was just lovely. We were greeted kindly from the first step through the door, our server as well was very sweet and understanding, and the pancakes were just splendid!! Service was excellent overall, quick but not so quick that you worry that the quality of your food is going to suffer, all employees were attentive and patient, and the atmosphere was bright and welcoming. On to the food!!! You know how sometimes you go out for breakfast and the quantity is humongous and it sits so hard in your stomach once it all settled and you think to yourself, "I'm never going to be able to eat again"? Let me tell you, this will not be the experience you have at Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House at Clappington. I ordered the Berries & Cream as a signature stacked (did I mention that almost anything that isn't already offered with or as a pancake can be turned into one!!?!) and my boyfriend ordered the Signature NY Blueberry cheesecake pancake. They were both perfectly cooked, fluffy, light, a beautiful balance between salty and sweet especially with the sweet selection of fruit and drizzled toppings. Was not overehelmingly sweet or a negative flavour storm in our mouths, it was decadent, delicious, simply delectable all for an amazingly affordable price! I'll be honest the portion sizes ARE big and so we didn't finish either of ours, but it gave us the opportunity to box 'em up and have them again with dinner, of course the experience is different post refrigeration and reheating, however I can't say I've gone anywhere else out of the many breakfast/brunch places I've tried and thought, hmmmm, I wan to box this up and have it AGAIN later (because two hours later I can't even think about what I ordered without feeling a little queasy). We will absolutely be returning, and give a huge thanks to Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House for making our very first visit a wonderful one. Ten out of ten in person experience. Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visit this stacked very often, but as our recent two experiences with two separate people's service have been quite poor I don't think we'll be returning again. Today we came with our baby, and just to keep things quick and smooth, when the waitress came to take our coffee order I told her what we wanted and mentioned that we are ready to place the food order too (sometimes they ask if you're ready to order food anyways). She told us there's other tables ahead of us and it's the fair thing to do to take their orders first. I said that's fine no worries. They were understaffed this morning so she's understandably stressed. It took about 15 - 20mins for her to come back to take our food order, and before she took our order gave us a very long lecture about how she's the only one here today and there's tables before us and it's not fair to our orders first. I was shocked because we didn't say anything and instead of being apologetic it felt very aggressive - to the point where my husband who had left to walk with our baby and came back to this asked me if I had provoked her in any way. A few weeks ago I came with my mom who's English isn't very fluent, and when a different waitress took our order, she was very impatient and condescending. You know how breakfast options are with questions from how you like your eggs to what kind of bread to bacon / sausage, I had tried to prepare my mom but still missed some questions. Note we always tip the standard 15% and don't think we've been rude customers before. I think perhaps because they're understaffed the servers are just super stressed. Not the best way to start your day...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAugust 7/2022: Currently here for a birthday breakfast, and our server has been so rude the entire time. The hostess was nice but server was angry when she saw we have a toddler (sheās quiet and sweet, just busy colouring), kept rushing us to order, and when we were ready she tried walking away twice WHILE we were still ordering. So either she thought weād all share from one plate, or sheās trying to make us angry so weāll leave? Itās decently busy but dining room is by no means full, so thereās absolutely no reason to be pushing us out of our table, especially 5 minutes into our stay. Iām sure the food will be fine, but itās probably overpriced for the level of service weāre getting. Iāll update my review if it gets any better or worse, but I donāt have high hopes.
Update: My daughter liked her chicken fingers, the pancakes werenāt bad but very chewy so I wouldnāt say great, eggs were perfect 10/10, and the steak my husband got was great. Food overall good and Iām happy with the price vs quality and portions. What Iām not happy with, is once food was delivered our server completely ignored us, and we had to ask someone else for napkins and butter, and eventually a takeaway container. When the server came back it was only to drop the receipt and machine on our table, give an exaggerated eye roll, and walk away, never saw her again. So we paid, we left, we did not tip, and despite the food being better than other breakfast places, we wonāt be back.
