We visit Hope often and always make a point of supporting local businesses. Unfortunately, this is not one we will be returning to.
We were in town for Brigade Days and decided to stop in for a meal. We were told food would take about an hour, which we were fine with given the busy weekend. However, it ended up being an hour and a half, and one meal never even arrived until after everyone else had finished eating.
The service left much to be desired. Our table sat with empty drinks for nearly 30 minutes before we were able to flag down our server. When the food finally arrived, only one of the eight meals was decent. Some of the items felt as if they were cold and reheated in the deep fryer again.
Hereās what we experienced: ⢠A beef dip that was dry ⢠A patty melt with fries that were extremely overcooked, along with an overcooked patty ⢠Two orders of chicken strips and fries that were so overcooked we couldnāt even break the strips in half (completely inedible) ⢠A poutine that didnāt arrive until the end of the meal ⢠A salad that came with a bread tag in it ⢠A burger that was also overcooked
Management did offer 20% off our bill, which we accepted, but given the state of the chicken strips in particular, those meals should have been fully comped. We wouldnāt have fed them to our dogs, let alone even serve them to individuals.
We didnāt mind waiting for foodāit was the quality (or lack thereof) that was truly disappointing, along with sub-par service. After this experience, weāll be choosing other local establishments...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI āHOPEā they get their stuff together because our experience was god awful. Walking in, Iām surprised we didnāt hear a record scratch as the locals stopped their conversations and turned to give us a collective up-and-down. We sat on the back patio and our server, or maybe a passerby who pretended to be our server since we only saw her twice the whole time, seemed very put out by the fact that we were interested in ordering. Our food, a few fried appetizers, took over 90 minutes before we got it, meanwhile we sat un-checked on with empty drinks (jokes on them, we wouldāve paid more to drink ourselves out of the disappointment). The food that did arrive had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp for at least 60 of those 90. Another hour later, we waited HOPEfully for the server to return for the check, which we assumed would have been of interest to her. No luck. We went inside and found her sitting behind the bar chatting with the regulars and had the gall to ask her to let us pay and leave. We kept our heads on a swivel as we exited, preparing for a fist, shiv, or slur to come our way. I HOPE they expand the highway so this town is no longer a necessary stop on the drive...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood food- absolutely the worst service we've ever experienced. The older male behind the bar that served was miserable, beyond miserable! We thought we were on a gag show! Had to call him over to ask for menu- then napkins, cutlery, and all the condiments for our meals. Ate, sat with dirty dishes and empty drinks, no one came. While we tried to get his attention for the bill, he leaves the establishment. I walked to the bar, where a girl had just started and continued to wait for her attention while she chatted up the regulars and eventually she came with our bill and asked how the service was!Too bad- they have a great new cook. Clearly they don't welcome new customers-good luck- you're probably paying huge to keep that place open. Beyond...
