Had what I believe is a one-off experience at the local downtown kamloops location. The food was good, smaller than expected, serving size on the mashed potatoes as that was all I had ordered. (Pregnancy craving) The portion size was more than likely my mix-up as I did not recognize I was ordering a side of mashed potatoes. However, we experienced quite the awkward exchange between our hostess and server. Our hostess was an incredibly kind younger male (no name tag to be seen), and our server was a woman named Rose. The hostess could see that the waitress was momentarily tied up with a table but was also vigilante in noticing that I was pregnant and quite obviously discomforted and sat us right away. He told us our server would be right over and brought us waters right away. While he was getting our waters, our server Rose approached our table. The hostess gently let her know he was getting our waters, and she paused with an eye roll. She asked if she knew what we were having - took our order and then asked to have a word with the hostess in the back. They stepped into the kitchen but remained in front of the window where we could visibly see her give the hostess what we would call "some grief." They separated, and he wasn't seen again. Granted, there were only about 6-8 tables at this time, so one could consider things "slower." However, she immediately asked for help from another gentleman in the resteraunt. He began making milkshakes for another table, seating those that came in, packing to go orders, etc. At the end of our meal, I asked if the hostess was still in the resteraunt cause we wished to thank him for getting us a comfortable booth right away and waters. She told us that he was "sent home because it was so dead." Although it may have been on the slower side, things were picking up during our meal and again - she was very quick to ask for help from another server/hostess type personal in the establishment. She was visibly irritated by the initial hostess getting us set up with waters and was not very distant/hidden about her upset and behaviour. I hope that the young hostess sees this review and understands that he is appreciated and recognized for his efforts.
Prices have definitely gone up, as they have everywhere, but the quick and tasty meal was worth the trip in.
One of the TVs was broken, the tables were clean, the bathrooms were to be expected for something downtown, and open 24 hours. The claw machine was in working order and it was a short walk...
Read moreDenny's in Kamloops offers a classic diner experience with a cozy atmosphere that invites guests to relax and enjoy a hearty meal. The restaurant features a diverse menu, ranging from breakfast staples served all day to satisfying lunch and dinner options. Whether you’re in the mood for a fluffy stack of pancakes or a juicy burger, Denny's delivers comfort food that hits the spot.
During my visit, I was impressed by the friendly staff, who were attentive and eager to make my dining experience enjoyable. The service was prompt, and my order arrived hot and fresh. I opted for the Grand Slam Breakfast, which was plentiful and delicious, showcasing perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and buttery toast. The highlight was definitely the pancakes—light and fluffy, they paired beautifully with maple syrup.
The ambiance of the restaurant is relaxed, with a mix of booths and tables, making it a great place for families, friends, or solo diners. The prices are reasonable, providing good value for the generous portion sizes.
One downside was the slightly outdated decor, which could use a refresh to enhance the overall dining experience. However, this did not detract significantly from the meal.
Overall, Denny's in Kamloops is a reliable choice for anyone craving classic diner fare in a welcoming environment. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast or a late-night snack, you’re sure to leave satisfied. I look forward to returning to try more items from their...
Read moreMarch 13 2024 at around 10pm I showed up to Dennys in Kamloops on Columbia. I usually avoid Dennys because I find they are overpriced and dont offer gluten free food in a simple manner. It seems that they have a lot of gluten free upgrades. Like fake meat patties, and English muffins... The previous time that I've been to a Dennys, I can honestly say I've had one of the worst natchos (different branch). The cheese was a sauce, without a good vegetable selection. And not moist and overall appealing. However they do put meat in it without charging extra. Well, since the server didn't seem inclined on helping me with my dietary restrictions, and there seemed to be only around 3 items that didn't require upgrades to become gluten free. I still went for the natchos, because 2 eggs isn't enough... The natchos were filling, but no surprise for taste and quality. I was also a bit frustrated to see a plate on the kitchen counter left unattended for about 3-5 minutes before my server grabbed it, added sour cream, and brought it to me. I'm sure the kitchen staff are doing exactly what they are told. But, Dennys can learn from just about anybody on how to improve their natchos, service, and pricing. The only reason that I didn't give a lower rating is due to friendly service, and 24/7 hours of operation. The Dennys site that I saw from google maps did not mention cash as an option? Are they supporting the agenda of a cashless...
