I have been to this place in their original location a few times, and never had an issue. Tried doing take out on a Sunday afternoon and ended up waiting over 30 mins for my food.
First off, they lost my order. The only apology I got was from the very nice black cashier, not the manager. The manager did make mention that my order was lost and "that just happens sometimes" like I should just expect that to happen. No discount or apology from the manager. I saw further incompetance among management as I watched a larger gentleman wander around doing almost nothing. Once in a while he would shave some meat, but not much else. It was VERY obvious that he was not contributing much. The manager seemed to not care about this. Not OK obviously, but in a place where customers can see what is going on this is absolutely NOT acceptable.
What also added to the wait time in a big way was DISH and DASH orders. It was very obvious to me right off the bat that this was going to be a problem. The whole restaurant seemed to only be catering to these orders, and then once in a while they would fit in one of the walk in take-out orders. This was frusterating to say the least. Before taking my order, I should have been warned about the excessive wait times.
Finally, when I did get my food the wrap had been fried to the point of being dried out, leathery, and crumbly in places. This caused fillings to come out onto me as I ate my wrap as the wrap would rip further down and pull fillings out onto my shirt. The fillings taste and quality were fine and as expected.
By FAR the worst experience I have ever had at this place. They need to sort out how to serve DISH and DASH alongside walk in orders. They need to optimize their order fulfillment. They need to make sure all employees are being fully utilized, especially when there are many orders to fill.
I want to return one day, but will be asking about wait times before putting my order in and of course that my wrap be only...
Read moreJust today I was thinking about ordering a donair. In the past they haven’t been too bad, the meat is dry a lot, and the pitas seem to get rock hard to where knives have a hard time cutting. But then I remembered my last experience. I ordered my items, but the way their menu is laid out, I wasn’t sure if it would be correct. After being behind 10-15m on the order, I was already waiting near the tills. I saw them make the order and immediately knew they had made it incorrectly. I quickly notified the lady at the front who went in the back to notify the kitchen. The issue was I expected the second sauce to be on the side for the potato because that’s where it was listed on the menu, but instead it went into the donair. Mixing the “sweet” sauce and tzatziki is beyond gross. After returning from the kitchen she told me that “they made what you ordered,” I showed her the app where it was clearly confusing, which she agreed with. I said I come in often and would really appreciate it if even they could scrape off the sauce and reapply it. The kitchen cook overheard me talking and came out and basically said that he’s not going to waste any time fixing an order that technically wasn’t wrong. This total lack of customer service was shocking to me, in that moment I understood where these “Karen’s” flip out on restaurant workers over seemingly small issues. I made it a point to never go there again, but to try and document any time I would have liked to, but didn’t out of principle. They could have fixed a $14 item, but instead they lost 8 repeat visits in the last 6 months. Businesses that are so pigheaded and obtuse just ruin the whole industry for others. I will never ever go back, and actively make sure others are aware of who...
Read moreDuring the dark days of quarantine there was a light, a boost to the fatigue of nonstop cooking, an open door with heavenly, mouthwatering smells wafting out on to third avenue. And that light was a little local restaurant called Klasske’s Bistro. Klasske’s was my go-to for months when I wanted a healthy, filling, delicious dinner and was too tired to make one myself. The staff are amazing there, they began remembering my order and would greet me with kindness and generosity one would expect from your own family.
I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a “picky” eater, but I encourage all picky eaters out there to give this place a shot, you won’t be disappointed. My order is a chicken donair with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, cucumber and no sauce. Although one may think the donair would be dry without the sauce, (the restaurant workers certainly did, probably leading to them remembering my no-sauce order) or not as good, that isn’t the case. The meat is juicy and tender enough that it doesn’t need it! The meat is slow-cooked and sometimes gets sold out, but it is worth the wait if this happens and they need to make more, trust me. I brought my mom to eat here and she wouldn’t stop talking about her donair (she had tzatiki for sauce in hers). I’m not joking, for days she thought about it and told all her friends. Besides the sauce, the veggies are always fresh, and pita is cooked perfectly crispy. The best technique for eating the donair is to peel away the wrapper as you go to avoid a mess on your plate.
I will miss this place (I’m moving away), and writing this review has made me crave another tasty donair, even though I had one...
