This is the second time I have been to this restaurant. Although the food has been great both times the service (or lack there of) leaves much to be desired. I didn't complain the first time because I was going to right off the poor service as to either our server was having a bad day (because we all have those) or simply a language barrier. Today's horrible service began the moment we walked in the door when our server approached us extremely slow, no smile not much of a greeting at all. Then once at our table when we asked her for a booster seat for my friends three year old she acted as though we were bothering her. As my friend and I spoke about the service so far and I filled her in on how my service was just awful the last time that I was there the person who was working behind the sushi counter heard us and said something to our server. Shortly after this our server came over to our table an entirely different person, she struck up a conversation, looked like she was pleased to do her job and we were grateful and appreciative in return. Aside from some disorganization as to how the food that we ordered was brought out dinner went well. When we were finished my friend was asked if she wanted take out containers for the two small plates of food that were remaining for a fee of $5.00, she said "no thank-you" and was then told that she would be charged the $5.00 anyways for wasting the food when the whole reason that it was being wasted was because it was not brought out with the other food that she had ordered, it was brought out long afterwards and by now she and her kids were full. So she agreed to the containers with no other option and she had to pack the food up herself. I paid for myself and my daughter and waited outside with the kids for my friend to pay for herself and her kids. When my friend came outside she was livid as to how much her meal came to. The total cost for one adult, an eleven year old and a three year old plus two ice tea's and a large chocolate milk (on a Tuesday) came to $70. and change. So clearly she was overcharged by a considerable amount. When I got home and called the restaurant to speak to them regarding this matter I got a major run around. I asked to speak to the manager and the person that answered said that I was speaking to the manager, I proceeded to tell him why I was calling and after listening to me for a bit without saying anything he passes the phone to a woman to deal with the matter who sounded a lot like our server. I say to her that I would like to speak back with the manager and she then says that she is the manager, I say that the man before her said that he was the manager and she said that they both are. When I stated that she sounded a lot like our server she said that she was our server. I said that I never heard of the manager of a restaurant also being a server she said that she had to fill in cause the other server's were resting meanwhile there were plenty of other servers milling about and serving other while we were there so this completely made no sense. After stating all this to her I asked who the owner was and was informed that the owner was not there and would not be there until next week sometime. This restaurant needs to realize that advertizing by word of mouth can work for both in favour of spreading good word or informing the public of bad service and experience. I guarantee my friend and I will not be returning and neither will any of our friends or family. Needless to say I will calling tomorrow to try and get to the...
Read moreMoved to Lindsay a little over a year ago - This restaurant and a couple of others are really the only ethnic restaurants in town, along with serving sushi. I’m originally from Toronto - so I suppose I have high expectations - so the food is good, and it’s prepared normally in a timely manner. Ordered here over a handful of times for our Friday Night Family Takeouts (which will eventually become Friday Night Family Out Dinner), however, recently very unimpressed by QQ Sushi. Their customer service has really taken a hit in recent months. Today was the last straw, and I’ve tossed out takeout menu which we normally keep at the dinner table menu basket, into the recycling bin (photo). I ordered two separate orders of the sashimi combo, which on their menu indicates two sides per combo, which is a bowl of miso soup and a salad. I suppose I’m partly to blame for being so trusting of a restaurant which I normally like going to… So I just dropped in, got my food and went home. At home, my wife and I checked the food - low and behold, the sashimi has been packed up into a single container, only 1 chopstick, aaaand the “icing on the cake” - only one bowl of salad and only one bowl of miso. I called the store, and the boy on the phone answers “yes, we put it into one container” for the sashimi being in one (which we never asked, and they previously gave it in two separate containers), and for the miso and salad missing another pair “we changed it recently. we only give either a salad or a miso, since you ordered two of the combo we just gave you one soup and one salad, per combo”. This, coupled with a poor experience last time where they charged us for 2 extra small bowl of white steamed rice (which is traditionally a free or complimentary item at good sushi restaurants and also in Japan - where I lived for a few years - so long as the customer asks for it), was the last straw. With the tossing of their menu into our recycling bin tonight, I will be boycotting QQ Sushi from our Friday night takeout dinner selection. It feels to me that QQ is cutting costs by reducing the quantity of food per menu item. 2 stars because the quality of the sashimi was good, but I don’t appreciate the dishonest customer service. I’ve been to better restaurants in Toronto and Japan - and I’m very disappointed with QQ Sushi. We won’t be returning to this restaurant in the near future - maybe if there is a change in management, or they send out updated menus around town indicating clearly what and what is not included. To the QQ OWNER - I will gladly remove this review if you can contact me directly and fix the mistakes of the...
Read moreFood is good but the service is the worst we have experienced in years. To start off, our hostess/waitress didn't bother to meet us at the door. She simply pointed to a table and walked away. This was our first, and will be our last visit. As we sat down for lunch we picked up the menus only to have the waitress literally snatch them out of our hands and grunt they were for dinner, lunch was all you can eat from a smaller menu, where you ticked off boxes indicating what you wanted. Any conversation with this person consisted of nothing but grunts and shoulder shrugs. We should have left then, but we decided to stay. As I said, the food was really good, but too much for us to finish, so we asked for a container so we could take the balance of the food home. It wouldn't all fit in one container, so I asked for a second and she rolled her eyes and just about threw it on the table. Then came the best part. She added an extra $12.00 to the bill! When I asked why she said it is the restaurant policy that any food not eaten at the table will be charged extra, because to them it is a waste of food. Apparently taking it home is somehow wasting the food. No amount of discussion or argument would change their mind. The attitude of the lady who I think is a co-owner was as bad. She didn't care that we were upset, didn't try to apologize or explain anything and simply said that is the way they do things. They didn't to anything I said. So that is how we were treated on our first (and only) visit to this dump. Too bad, because the food was great, but I will not be treated so dismissively and rudely. They just lost a potential multi visit customer. My advice is the food quality is not worth the lousy attitude and customer service. Not worth you time and money. Don't forget you will be charged for anything you don't finish no matter if you try to take it home, or even leave it on the table. Stay away. There are so many other great restaurants in Lindsay that greet you with a smile, and treat you like a...
